Had to drop this drama, couldn’t stand a lot of the characters especially the main girl, she thinks she all that but she ain’t, she’s so extremely annoying and the male lead is such a wimp, he has like 0 backbone. Actually most of the males are like that too. Male lead’s brother and dad are also wimps, they let the women walk all over them. His brother lets a mafia daughter control him and force to be her boyfriend and forces her way into his family by lies. The guys can’t stand up for themselves at all, they are so weak, it’s not even fun to watch, and it’s like the same thing happening again and again. Which leads to all the females in the drama being totally annoying especially the grandma. Grandma is such a B, she is a liar and totally selfish, she does whatever she wants and ignores everyone’s feelings. She uses her family’s love and uses fake health problem to force them to do what she wants. She threatens not to eat/pretends she’s sick just to get her way. If she was my grandma I would so drop her and leave. I can’t stand her character at all, I would rather take an outright evil grandma over her, at least then she ain’t a lying two-faced. I can’t see how people would find the grandma cute at all. Not even gonna get started on the how horrible the main girl is but I can say this is one of the few drama where I’m rooting for the side girl (usually I HATE the side B but not in this drama!). Anyways I can go on and on but just gonna end it here.
tldr: overall horrible characters; all the males are wimps, all the females are overbearing/annoying, no balance, not enjoyable to watch at all unless you’re into that
Chengcheng didn’t cheat because he fell in love with the past Tan’er who hasn’t had her memories yet. So…
I understood the part where it’s the past but it’s not his past, it’s the past of a different dimension him so it’s a different world, not HIS past/world. Like if you understand the theory of the multiverse, there are more than one universe out there and each of those universe has a earth n a you in there and while all of you is kinda the person, you’re really not all the same person…if you seen/read other shows/novels on it you would understand, that the you in say Earth 1 could be good person while maybe the you in say Earth 7 could be evil, and another you in another Earth could be a doctor while a you in yet a different Earth could be lawyer (all in the same current time). Essentially they are all you but they aren’t. And if you all somehow come to meet each other in 1 universe together that’s still 4 different you meeting each other not the same you. You would all have your own lives, lovers, careers, etc. independent of each other. Now would you just go and steal the wife of the you from another Earth, heck no, you have your own wife, he has his own wife, he might not even have married the ‘same person’ you married, and even if he did married the ‘same person’ as you, those 2 ladies are still different ladies. You can’t just be inter-changing your wives with the rest of the other you. They are still not the same wife you knew even if they all share the same name/face. Another example is like if your earth blew up and during the explosion, your wife died and you were blown into another earth and you met the you there, do you think it’s ok to just steal HIS wife or are y’all just gonna have some kinda threesome. That’s not okay to me, you should just mourn your own wife, his wife is not your wife. Same scenario, but this time when the earth exploded you see your wife get blown through a warp while you get blown threw a different warp and now you ended up on Earth 5 while your wife ended up on Earth 6. So now you’re on Earth 5 and you see the Earth 5 you and his wife, do you just go and steal his wife, dude no, you would try to find your own wife and research about the whole time warp dimension thing and try to get back to your own wife, not start over with wife 5.0 while kicking Earth 5 you to the curve, that’s fricking messed up, which is essentially what I see ML doing, that’s not eternal love, nope no sir, you don’t deceiver that title. It just happened that ML travel to a universe that was PARALLEL to his universe so mostly everything from the 2 universe line up to be relatively the same but essentially they are still 2 separate worlds n 2 different people. That would explain why the s2 ML has slight difference to s1 ML, also the same for the FL, s1 FL was born with the soul orb thing (sorry been a long time since I watch don’t remember name) or w/e while s2 FL was not born with it because they aren’t the same person. S1 FL is from say ‘Earth 1’ and s2 FL is from ‘Earth 2’, 2 separate person.
The point that you brought up about their magical life also proves my point. So their past magical life is the same them because they are both ‘Earth 1’ people still, they just die and got reincarnated. The current S1 Taner is ‘Earth 1’ Taner, and the magical Taner is also ‘Earth 1’ Taner they are the same person who was just reborn after death in the SAME universe, and that explains why she was born with the orb thing or w/e inside her. But s2 Taner from ‘Earth 2’ is a separate Taner because she didn’t inherit the orb from magical ‘Earth 1 Taner’ because maybe s2 Taner had a different past because she in her own universe not the same universe as s1 or ‘Earth 1’ Taner so her past doesn’t necessarily have to follow the timeline of Earth 1 Taner.
As for your point about the s1 FL memories being absorbed by s2 FL, that also proves my theory they aren’t the same person. If they were the same person then it would be impossible for s2 Fl to have memories of s1 FL because s1 would have never happened. If you go the buttery effect route from time travel then that means changing the past erases the original timeline so no way s1 FL memories could exist. If you go with the other theory that changing the past creates a new timeline separate from the original timeline, then that means the people from the 2 timelines are still also different even if they share the same past and faces because the timeline were diverge from there. So either way they are still different. The only reason that’s possible for the s2 FL to get the memories of s1 FL is that s1 FL soul or w/e also got blown threw space and time and could be lost in limbo or another dimension and the writer bs their way and just force her soul that’s in limbo into the s2 Fl so that they can bs force the plot together since they used that on ML too. I just call bs on the writer cuz s/he messed up with all their plot holes and s/he then tried to just force things together at the end because s/he messed up from the start. Or if it was planned from the start then they did a horrible job explaining it or it got lost in translation and maybe someone fluent in Chinese who have seen it and understand it well can explain better. Anyways my opinions are just from my own understanding of watching the show with English subtitle so maybe I watched some not so well explained English subs, idk but I still stand by what I said because that what’s I understood from what I have watched.
Anyways none of this would even be an issue if they just said s1 ML travel back in time to HIS OWN PAST in his OWN WORLD because then he would be re-wooing his OWN Taner not a different world Taner that is not his own. If they really wanted to explore the multiverse plot and still earn their title of Eternal Love, there are so many other routes they could’ve, shouldn’t taken. Like maybe if he travels back to the ancient times of immortals and fairies they could give him info on the whole time warp thing and maybe find a way to communicate with his wife lost somewhere in a different time and world, and they both try to find each other. Like maybe his wife could’ve been blown into a future where they have all this high tech and that how she’s able to communicate with him while he stuck in the past using magic to communicate with her. That to me would deserve the title Eternal Love, not this hot bs mess they did as a plot. Season 2 honestly shoulda just been a a spin off or something else and not a continuation and they should have just ended with the season 1 ending.

Also on a side note note that kinda relate, I have read a lot of comments from viewers along the lines of like ‘I hope Taner(s2) doesn’t kiss or have intimate interaction with s2 MLC because they only want her to do that with s1 MLC’(until they combined) because essentially s1 MLC is the one she’s been having relations with and not s2 MLC even tho people are still claiming they are the ‘same person’. Point being is that whether they are the ‘same person’ or not, it’s the experiences you have with the person that makes it the person you love. So like to me regardless, MLC still disregarded his original Taner for a newer model which to me is not even the same person. This is also why I prefer the other drama called Eternal Love (Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms) that to me was eternal love.
Unless I'm somehow mistaken (correct me if I am wrong because I hope I am) then this drama doesn't deserve the title The ETERNAL Love -__- because from what I understood, s1 MLC basically abandon and cheated on s1 XT (and their baby)!! This really annoys me because I'm a huge sucker for those kind of love story where the couple only loves each other no matter what for all eternity.
So at the end of s1, from what I understood, s1 MLC went into the future and found HIS s1 XT and they were together and happy (still have no idea about their baby tho). They should have really just stopped here because s2 came along and threw that whole plot in the trash?! S2 should've just been a remake or something else since they changed everything and s2 started with s1 MLC in the future but in a parallel dimension (ugh I hate multi verse/ parallel dimensions crap) and time, and he found NOT his original s1 XT but a different XT (s2 XT) of that world. Like just WTF ugh!! And now he’s basically cheating on his original s1 XT and stealing s2 XT who should rightfully be with s2 MLC because s2 XT and s2 MLC are rightfully from the same dimension and SHOULD’VE been together if he never came along to mess it up!! I don’t understand why didn’t s1 MLC just try and find his original s1 XT from his own dimension instead of going after this s2 XT from another dimension who already has her own s2 MLC (even if they haven’t met yet but if history follows she would have met s2 MLC and fallen in love with him like s1 MLC and s1 XT did). Also, now who even knows what happened to the s1 XT, she’s just somewhere out there lost in space and time and s1 MLC not even bothering to try and find her??.. but instead he’s pursuing a different version of her -___- (yea some loyalty there ML <_<)
Don’t get me wrong this is only a criticism of the story/plot and nothing else so I blame the writers or whoever came up with this mess. I have nothing against the actors/chemistry or anything else of this show.
I like the leads and their chemistry but I just can’t get past the plot of s1 MLC cheating on s1 XT with s2 XT since they are not the same person and who knows what even happened to s1 XT now? Just imagine if they did a story that followed s1 XT and what happened to her. Then s1 XT somehow got to the dimension s1 MLC and s2 XT are in right now because she had been searching for s1 MLC all this time and then she finds out he’s already replaced her with a parallel version of herself, how would that make her feel??……also it really annoys me that he kept thinking s2 XT is his s1 XT because she’s not, she’s a different person, she doesn’t have the orb in her and she doesn’t have the life and death pact with him. His original s1 XT is somewhere else out there lost in time and space which he’s not even bothering trying to find. Now I’m just repeating myself so rant over.
