KNOT: A Knot of Wasted Potential
From WHERE do I even start?? 😭I had expectations for this series, BUT I ended up disappointed!! THEY HAD THE OPPORTUNITY to do better than My Stubborn, and they FAILED...
They chose the ABO universe without properly portraying its characteristics. They talked about pregnancy and the Enigma concept without actually showing us the outcome. They mentioned rut, but we barely got to see it. They talked about heat, but what we got was nowhere near enough! They didn't even bother to DEEP-DIVE into the ABO cycle and explore its full potential. 🤦♀️
And let's not even TALK about that wacky CGI crap... 💀 Especially the car and driving scenes!! The VFX were so bad that they completely ruined the immersion. How are viewers supposed to get emotionally invested in a scene when the CGI keeps pulling them out of it??
AND THOSE SO-CALLED "BODYGUARDS"?? ARE THEY JUST THERE FOR SCREEN TIME?! 😭 WHO IN THE WORLD has bodyguards standing ONE INCH away from their boss inside HIS OWN HOUSE or during an INTIMATE CONVERSATION?? Make it make sense!!
Too many unnecessary scenes and WAYYYYY too much slow motion just to drag out the runtime of each episode. Like, PLEASE, we get it!! 😭
I'm a BIG fan of the ABO universe, which makes watching this series an even BIGGER disappointment. They had so much potential to explore, yet somehow managed to leave so much of it untouched.
⭐ My Ratings
Story: 4/10 — The story is there, but the plot development, the pacing and screenwriting fail to bring it to life.
Acting: 6/10 — Cringey moments here and there, and you can tell that some of the actors didn't fully understand their characters. They sometimes feel like avatars simply executing instructions, with little personality or depth added to their performances.
Cast: 8.5/10 — A great cast full of potential! However, the outfits and makeup give off more of a VAMPIRE vibe, especially for the Alpha brothers, rather than fitting the ABO universe.
Production: 3/10 — Again THERE WAS a potentiel. Just a massive facepalm. 🤦♀️
OST: 1/10 — Simply not my cup of tea (and some scenes got the BGM louder 💀)
VFX: 3/10 — I'll let the car scenes speak for themselves. 💀
Rewatch Value: NEVER. 🚫
Overall: 6/10
Final verdict: This series had the cast and the concept to deliver something much better, but the execution just wasn't there. As someone who genuinely loves the ABO universe, I'm disappointed by how much potential went to waste. 😩
