I loved that Eun-Ha's mother didn't have any redemption but still acknowledged her actions and praised her daughter…
The mother character is consistent to the end. It won’t sit well if she bends or becomes sentimental. The scene of her putting down that bitchy address is simply a class act - brilliant!
I really love how this drama talked about purpose of life mainly through Jinman, storytelling through Dongman,…
Jin-man intrigues and impresses me most - like a moral compass. Glad he’s finding his own purpose of life again, to the extent of writing again. His arc can be a story on its own.
Calm down people. In a country like South Korea, chaebol is more powerful than king. Hui-ju is on the right track to strategise through her father whose clout is what’s needed here to quickly out-manoeuvre the palace / PM alliance.
I was like this drama seems very similar to My Mister, and I took a look the screenwriter did My Mister and My…
The good news is PHY’s dramas - despite how depressing and hopeless it maybe at the drama outset - almost always end with a sense of positivism and character growth.
i didnt like ep 2 as much as ep 1 it was ... too hyper over the top and with FL posing still for pretty pictures…
Come on, why watching the drama when you dislike the FL that much. On the contrary, as a 20-year fan of Kdramas, I can state boldly that GYJ is a real acting talent and perhaps the best of her generation. And she suits this character to a T.
He’s the total opposite of Dong-man and that’s why they can be the best of friends. JW is not one to confront as he wants to get along well with everyone. Maybe deep down he admires DM’s gut?!
Ratings are not that good for a weekend drama..hope it improves
For PHY’s dramas, rating is a secondary issue - more about the critical response and impact. Her dramas are not for everyone but one would be a fan for life if they are your things - speaking deeply to your heart and staying in your mind for a long, long time.
Today's episode gave me Coffee Prince flashbacks with all the internal conflict and self-loathing the ML is going…
I felt the Coffee Prince vibe too - the confused turmoil is burning him. The cave scene is the beach scene all over again. The denial and rejection will come next in form of a speedy convenient marriage but it’d be quite hard for the story to sustain on the fake married line for another 7 episodes.
Expected something more from the finale especially from the perspective of the crew, leading up to the release…
A time jump showing how everyone gets on with their lives - and the big or small impact Daeum’s passing has on each of them - is a more meaningful way to conclude this beautiful story (in my view).
I think that counters the message of the last 15 minutes. I remember at grief counseling, the problem people encountered…
I think it’s exquisitely done without the actual death or funeral scene, focussing instead of how everyone goes on with their lives which have been invariably changed by Daeum’s passing. It’s beautiful!
I think those turn-arounds were done very reasonably and realistically. Jaein hated Daeum because she misunderstood…
Those are not sudden turnaround. Producer Bu has long been a best friend of Jeha and Seoyoung’s boss is a cut-throat operator with a hidden heart. And Jae-in felt ashamed of herself since the last couple of episodes. This is already a very sad and extraordinary situation - I don’t mind at all the side characters become caring. If people knowing nothing about these characters are willing to contribute to the crowd funding, why wouldn’t people in the know be a bit kinder. Natural human response too.
This is one movie that you appreciate more at each rewatch - at least this is my experience. My first watch was around 15 years ago and I’d rewatch like every two years. The fact it doesn’t have any music actually adds a lot to the enjoyment of this movie - which is practically about life as it is.
