I have also watched 'small town rivals' somewhere I don't remember now, the movie is so hilarious I love it! I will post it here when I found it.
First few episodes didnt really get to me, but them I saw a few videos later and decided to pick it up again. AND IM REALLY HAPPY THAT I DID! This drama gets better and better. I love all the interactions and characters. Its very sweet and fresh in some ways (especially the portrail of friendships). Just perfect :)
To be honest, this drama has many writing problems. First of all the story doesn't make any sense. It has potential but the writers didn't get this potential. That's really too bad because the drama has many interesting characters and the chemistry between all them is really great !!
I didn't drop it yet (especially because of Chang Soo & Ji Yi couple and the friendship between Ji Yi & Yoon Ha)... So I hope that the writer will not destroy these relationship that are my only interest in this drama.
Oh, I'm not really agree with people who said the actors are not good. I'm not a big fan of UEE but her acting is OK here. All of them are pretty good.
As I said above, this drama's problem is the writing !
Dropped this drama after episode 4. I couldn't bare to watch anymore. I love Sung Joon sfm, but this drama was a disaster. I think I rated it a 3 and dropped it lol. I have never dropped a drama in my life until High Society. It was honestly so so so bad.
Who knows, maybe it got better but everything was so ridiculous about each character except Chang Soo. Ji Yi was a horrible at acting... Each time she would do something I couldn't help but cringe... UEE was... just overall her character made zero sense and that bugged me so much.
Really loving this show. This writer is so amazing. One Warm Word, Can We Get Married (also Sung Joon), and 10 years on Couple Clinic: Love and War, a reality series that took divorcing couples and tried to reconcile them. Imagine what food for relationships she picked up in 10 years of working on that! The character development in this show is indicative of the prior 2 and what I love about her style. This show is a bit more 'typical' in it's kdrama story line than Word or Married, but the unique feel of her character development still holds strong. No one is who you really think they are. As we pass the half way point, the real selves start coming out and the motivations you think you know are twisted in surprising ways. I LOVE that! I also love that the characters actually have adult conversations about their difficulties and differences....we are not going for 6 episodes of revenge laden nasty juvenile tricks, etc. I don't know if this show will have a realistic ending. If it does, I think Yoon Ha and Joon Ki could end up together. I had little hope for Ji Yi and Chang Soo...until this last episode. Will his mother actually be a 'real' mother to her son? Or will she continue on her path of chaebol insensitivity to feelings in favor of monetary gain? I am so anxious for the final 2 episodes. I really wish this thing had 20 instead of 16. I am not ready to leave these characters by any means.
Good article :D I'm enjoying this drama as well, I especially love Chang Soo (Hyung Shik) and Ji Yi's scenes (to be honest I started this drama for Hyung Shik (love him)) they are super cute at times, romantic and at time painful to watch when they are suffering :'( I like Yoon Ha (Uee)'s family story more than her "romance" with Joong Gi - and I really like her brother's (Lee Sang Woo) role in this drama - He better make a grand appearance in the last two episodes :D
Oh and I totally second you on the fact that Hyung Shik is "hot and charismatic" in this drama! ^-^ ♥
I absolutely love this drama and I'm dreading the fact that it ends next week :( Tbh, I kinda keep hoping they'd announce an increase of 4 episodes...but I know it won't happen 5 days before the final episode :p
Absolutely wonderful write-up! Totally reflect the drama in its entirety! This drama was a surprise for me. I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I am. While I am actively rooting for Chang Soo and Ji Yi, neither couple have an easy road to climb! As the true angst has begun, I'm waiting for the last 6 ep before I finish it! Good Job!!
