I do as well >< I'm VERY picky for the same reasons (family member is a nurse so I totally get your frustrations).…
Yeah, I totally understand it

About the cultural thing, hum... Idk, you may be right

In my country people still think about doctors like they are gods on earth and don't understand that our job is not about following orders...

For example, I can decide not to give a specific medication if, after my avaluation of the patient, I don't agree with the prescription. Even though, people keep forgetting about the importance of nurses and still think that only doctors save lifes

But I know that in some countries, like England, nurses are given more importance and independence

I think eventually this way of thinking will evolve everywhere!

I'll try that ones to start then xD
Maybe one day, things will get more and more realistic... That way everyones work will be given importance
Yeah panicking... is the worse part, it's hard... But if we train our brain, things will happen in the right way without too much thought put into it
So thanks for your article ;)

This was so interesting!
Actually, I tend to run away from medical dramas/series
Since I'm a nurse, I have a lot of the anxious tension you get in hospitals, so when I get home I just want to sit back and relax with something different than all I've see during my day...
Most of the time I'm watching a medical drama, I'm thinking something like "what are they doing? That's so unrealistic!"
Stresses me out, really... And I don't even know why, since I know no one would like to see it if it was realistic xD

I think one of the reasons is the image nurses have
Nurses are usually so underrated that it pisses me off, really...
We're not the doctors slaves, we have our own knowledge, our own diagnosis, our own interventions. We are health professionals that work together with doctors. If people could understand this, I would be such a happier person.
Once, I saw one episode from this american serie that someone told me it had a nice nurse character... I saw a nurse being calm and cute, giving emotional support to a patient.. Okay fine! I do that, but I don't have 3 hours to spend on it like she apparently had! I need to do it effectively in less than 5 minutes otherwise I'm screwed. My shifts are so busy and stressful and I think no one even has a slight ideia of what we go through everyday.
So... I may have some problems with the medical genre

But I'm losing my point, I'm sorry xD
I loved all your tips, they're really important
Most people have no ideia of how different life-threatening situations in fiction is different from reality and how they should actually behave
Btw...
I did some formation for kids about "first aid" and actually I'm shook to realise how important it is to start your 911 call with your location! I stupidly never thought about it, how can this be xD I'll be better in the future and give out your tips, I promise

And yeah, GERMS! Ugh please peopleee, wash your hands! And don't just rinse water on them!
It's something so simple to do and people forget about it so easily...
I wash my hands so much, it's crazy, my poor skin

Summing it up
I'll gather my strength to eventually see a medical drama, hoping it'll change my opinion... One day, maybe
And thank you for one more great article! I actually loved seeing something about my work around here ^^

I started watching The Kingdom and my dad gave this weird look at the tv so I started going on and on about how much I was expecting from it and then he said "I've finished that one already, It's really good"
My father doesn't really like asian movies or dramas but I think from now on I'll have to get him an account on MDL lool xD

Really excited about 2020 KDramas!! Hoping I won't get disppointed :P

Kigdom Season 2 - Super hyped and a little skeptical, since seasons 2 usually make me disappointed.
Love Alarm Season 2 isn't going to be on my list for 2020.. I couldn't keep watching season one, it was too boring for me :(
The School Nurse Files - Ok, so... I'm a nurse... So I'm not sure if I'll like this... I'll think about it though
My Holo Love - YESS! It reminds me of the premise from the movie "HER", so I have big expectations
Itaewon Class - Park Seo Joon and an interesting storyline? It's a total yes for me.
The King - Woo Do Hwan... He will probably make me watch my first historical drama after Kingdom
Sweet Home and Tell What You Saw - Going to watch these ones for sure. After "Strangers From Hell", I'm super hyped about dramas in the thriller/psychological category.
The Cursed - YES. I'm kind of scared, but also so curious about it.
Rugal -WOW... Interesting! On my list.
Move to Heaven - Such a different and new storyline... I'll check it out!

I've seen Parasite! OMG It was great! And I have been recommending it to everyone, even though I know they'll probably mock me when I'm out of sight.
After some time hiding my personal tastes, I just decided to stop thinking about what others think and it actually paid off. I feel better and I even had this coworker who loves cinema, telling me "oh I saw parasite as you said and it was really good, actually the korean language didn't bother me as much as I thought it would"... I felt proud ahahah
We live in a weird world, we just have to learn how to deal with it
Btw too young to watch it? I mean, age is really just a number... My sister is 10 years younger than me and she loves horror movies, while I have to prepare mentally for days before watching a movie with spirits or something similar (even though I love the rush I get from watching them).
Let's all learn how to say your type of "no"! ;)
I'll also try to watch some of the recs you gave us, so thanks!
(Ah and sorry for my english, I'm portuguese xD)

I actually had so much fun reading this ahahah You're great at defending your point of view and personal tastes! I have a friend who loves horror movies and all I say to her is: I would love to see those movies, but I'm too afraid to do it!
I personally love psychological thrillers but I can't find that many movies who really blow my mind...
I also love korean movies, but everyone I talk to thinks I'm weird for loving "asian stuff"... Small-minded people, that's what I think
I hope next time I can defend my favorites this well!

Have you tried "She is pretty"? Even though it isn't a recent drama it will always have my heart!
I also liked "Be Melodramatic!", it's such a different type of drama! Give it a go, watch some episodes, and then you'll find yourself dying to find out more about the characters.
