I agree a hundred percent! Riku was written as such a stubborn guy! If only Riku had realized his feelings ooner then Ichiyo would still be alive and much happier. It all fell on Riku then? Ichiyo just needed someone by his side that acknowledges him for the things he likes. Amakami decided to befriend Ichiyo and having him as a roommate made Ichiyo feel like he can really give someone else a chance. There were lots of misunderstandings, and everyone is so focused on themselves to pay attention to others feelings...I feel like I’m ranting now... Anyways, thank you for responding! Just needed to get this unfairness and annoyance off my chest and let ideas bounce around.
Ichiyo's suicide was really a big surprise for me, I remember being shocked while watching that scene. I thought…
Ichiyo deserved to know the truth and have closure. He had a big future, and it’s upsetting the writers didn’t give him a happy ending and kept him miserable when one action or word from Riku or Aoi or Amakami could have made a difference. It just shows how everyone undervalued him and took him for granted, thinking he would always stay the same—predictable and obedient. I just wish they had given him hope or made him move away. He’d at least be alive and hopefully happier :((
