As a big fan of Ice World, should I bother watching this? I was waiting for it to finish airing before checking…
I love Koori no Sekai, and rewatched it many times across the years. I watched this to see a modern version. I went without expecting too much, but with the director and cast I had some hopes. I won't lie - to me it felt like a cheap knock-off, and I would like to get my time back. Was it horrible? No. But was it good? Also no. It was mediocre at the very best. I do need to rewatch KnS once more to 'detox' from this one. But if you do have some time to spare and you're bored? Give it a try. Just don't expect it to be a good adaptation or even a remake.
Wow...this was completely disappointing. I was expecting a lot from a remake of a drama I really, really like. I was not expecting it to be better, but at least to do it justice.
It was underwhelming, overdramatic, with mediocre script, suprisingly lacking directing (especially since this directors other works were good), and acting that left me very unsatisfied.
I was not expecting the MMC here to be better than the one portrayed by Takenouchi Yutaka, but I was hoping for at least some charisma. The FMC...I feel she tried. She did. But compared to her other dramas, this seemed like her debut one almost.
Not to mention most of characters' actions were either foolish, illogical, or easily predictable. There was no mystery, no sitting on the edge of my seat. In fact it was just that - watchable. Which is a shame.
Quite a lot of characters reminded me of Shion no Ou ones...but only on the surface.
Otherwise, the characters and the story felt a bit flat. Maybe shallow even? I expected a lot more traumatic past and reasoning behind the behaviour of most characters. Yet, there was nothing of the sort. Just normal every-day stuff that happen to everyone, everywhere.
It was okay, but it was not one I would rewatch. I will also likely not remember it for very long.
I really tried but I just couldn't bring myself to get attached or like any of the characters. The plot was meh - the story itself left a lot to desire, the acting was mediocre. Perhaps Jin Su or Cafe Owner would have been better as main leads - empty as all characters felt, they at least seemed to have a bit of depth. Not sure this would have saved it though. Dropped in the middle of ep 8.
