Also before they dated he had her follow him around like a love-sick puppy for 6 years, and then he walked out with zero communication, that isn't love.

I don't think he's Hong Ju's 1st love, he's her 1st proper crush like with idols, ML was her 1st love she just never realised back then.

Yep, was wondering that myself. After starting my Asian drama binge last May I binge watched "Moon embracing the Sun" in 2 or 3 sittings. So eagerly checked the cast s other credits and nothing in 14 years but 1 drama.
Most of the others have flourished Kim Soo Hyun, Kim You Jung and Kim So Hyun specifically.
Although similar thing happened to Kim Min Seo after 2017 as well.

3rd FL is really annoying, I didn't mind her so much early on, but around episode 13 when she starts advising the other 2 women about the men in their lives.
When she clearly hasn't gotten a clue herself.

The plot about the pregnancy were Wu Ying wasn't going to tell Yu Cheng, I think in that position I would break up with her even if I might have agreed at the end to the abortion if my GF didn't respect enough to tell me something that important then the relationship isn't what I thought it was. I agree that the woman has the right to choose it's her body after all, but the man has the right to know (she can still abort depending on the country ) even if it leads to a breakup.
I also do the same if I were Dr Ai's position
The only times I can think of this being ok is, an abusive relationship, a cheating relationship, a one night stand or very short fling, or after a very bad breakup (although debatable)

End of episode 4, where it shows scenes of the next episode his mum has returned to take him back, but it never happened, unless those clips aren't always from just the next episode?

Pretty much what I said in a different way,

I really enjoyed this, but as an emotionally stunted guy (even by guy standards) I found it difficult to understand 2fl reasons for what she did.

So from my understanding below is how I took what happened please correct me if I'm wrong, as I would like to have as best an understanding as I could lol

ML as far as I can tell was in love with 2fl for almost 15 years and he let her know through his music, which as far as am aware she was aware of this fact and this was years before she started dating 2ML, And he never made a move as he felt burdened by the help and financial aid that the 2FL family provided him and his family, as well as the social gap between their families.

2FL is the one I am uncertain about, she was aware he liked her, she claimed she loved him, and she helped him in secret, which when he discovers this also embarrassed him more. Then she dated 2ML for 10 years and she wasn't exactly the best GF she was cold etc. I feel like she robbed the guy of 10 years, although how he didn't see what was going on is beyond me.
She then explains she was envious of ML for his talent, but also found him a comfort (Which mirrors the FL what she said in the last episode).

So I'm of the conclusion yes they both loved each other, he decided he couldn't be with her like he say's in one of the last episodes due to burdens that he was placed under and he didn't deserve her.
Then I feel she punished him in away by dating 2ML who she may have loved in away but not the way he wanted, As the ML mentions she had look she only had with him which makes sense you spend 10 years with someone it's going to happen even if you are not IN love with them.

I kind of hope that the ending wasn't hinting at them getting back together, I was hoping FL's best friend would end up with 2ML in America to be honest. And she maybe ended up with FL's original crush the Violin repairer.

Anyway not sure if the above is coherent because my English is terrible lol (Unfortunately it's my only language god help me)

So any corrections thoughts etc much obliged.

One of the pinned reviews above, explained how Zhang Ziyi the FL personally bankrolled the drama and had final say on casting.

Reading the synopsis I assumed early to mid 20's leads due to the plot, unless there is time jumps after they are married.

Pretty sure they were together in real life during filming.

I have only watched a Youtube video so far, but it seemed the breakup was a misunderstanding on FL side thinking he was cheating, as well as the age gap etc.

To an extent you are right about that.
But if this is tongue in cheek playful messing around with her actual husband then it's nothing.
If her husband is not there, true it is probably still just playful comments, like I'm going to kill my kids if they don't do this or if they do that etc, your never actually going to do it.
But as you said she is a celebrity so she should be careful what she say's.
