I think it's a bit more complicated than that. I don't think she's selfish. I think she's just irresponsible and overwhelmed by everything she's juggling at the moment. She wants to have a great career while taking care of her nephew, and unfortunately right now it seems her career has slightly higher priority. Also, she's unable to set boundaries about working overtime, so unfortunately the ML has to take on more responsibility than he signed up for. She keeps forgetting that the ML is mostly in a babysitter role, rather than co-guardian

After the reveal in ep 10, am still a bit confused as to why I Jun took it as a personal betrayal. Is it because the original plan was for them to leave together? And also, it doesn't explain why Jae Gyu has also been so hostile to I Jun since after they reconnected years later

Most of the criticism of the drama so far has been about the plot/synopsis. I honestly haven't seen anyone criticise the visuals of the actors in this drama. I'd say these days fans are much more interested in a well written drama than in visuals. Good looking, popular actors are no longer enough to sell a drama. As kdrama fans, we're just craving well written plots. Good visuals are secondary, just the cherry on top

I also wondered how old the ML is supposed to be when he mentioned the Phd. And his friend also mentioned having to study/work for more than 10 years to become a neurosurgeon. So I assumed ML is in his 30s. But I've noticed cdramas often give characters unrealistic accomplishments for their age. So in the drama he might even be in his late 20s

The experience of the children in this drama seems loosely based on the real life Brothers Welfare center in the 70s and 80s. The heartbreaking part is that the stories of survivors paints an even more horrifying picture than what is portrayed in this drama

I've mostly seen these awesome translations for japanese dramas, not so much kdramas. But I always appreciated those subbers who took the time to add context or explain a joke that would be lost on English speakers

Totally agree about the TW for SA. I went into this drama thinking it would be a fluffy romcom

Very true. I used to like this trope of childhood friends/first loves reuniting but now am sick of it. Too many dramas in 2023 and this year had similar plot

I loved how the CEO handled the run-in with her dad. He managed to distract her and didn't ask her why she reacted that way. He just quietly comforted her with his singing. His character seemed to have low EQ before, but that scene showed the complete opposite.

It's so funny how he always refers to himself as the hater around her. But I think it has sth to do with how in SK they generally prefer to use titles instead of names

I think the director or producer of this drama worked with him before and they have remained in good terms. Maybe that's why

Am finding the comparison between Seokryu's family and Seunghyo's family quite interesting. On the surface, Seokryu's family seems better, just because they are livelier and interact with each other a lot more. But in reality, especially after episode 8, you realise how messed up their family dynamic really is. And that they are not much better than Seunghyo's family when it comes to communication. Unlike Seunghyo's family, they talk a lot with each other, but never really say the truly important things. Seokryu had so many hellish experiences in the US, but her family has no idea. So naturally they keep pushing for her to go back because they genuinely do not know what she went through there. Hopefully both families will progress towards a more healthy dynamic in coming episodes.
