The key points are "do research" ~ reading books and stuff are just secondary. Research can even be looking for spoiler tags for triggers and seeing the author's characterizations and plot in other books in the same series. The point isn't to read books and novels ~ it's looking out for potential trigger points.
I am talking about what I do. I don't go into anything blind. I don't give my time to anything I don't know about. It's better than me knowing exactly what kind of characters MAME writes, and exactly what sort of potentially grey things that will happen in this series — but still watching the series and than ranting about the thing that I knew was going to happen by saying "if that shit isn't a dream or something I'm going to cancel this show, the director, and the entire bl ancestors!!". Wastes my time when I could be out there actually watching something I CAN watch and enjoy.
Do your research, read the book, read about the novel series if applicable, know what sort of characters the author likes to write and if they don't fit your taste — don't watch. That's what I follow and it saves me my time and energy of watching something that I obviously won't like and then ranting about it everywhere. And so episode 1 was a 9/10.

I SO TOTALLY AGREE. I've read the novels so many times and honestly I don't want to say anything about Chiffon's taste and her vices but you can't describe it as A and then cast B. There was so many things wrong in this season. So many things.
