Yes, unlike what happens in the novel, the ending here is happy. But in the first episode they introduced us to the second part of the novel, then they told us the background to then give us a beautiful ending but it left me empty and i can't really see how can they give the right context to skip eight years and go on with the second season if in the special episode doesn't happen what leads them to separete for so long.
Still that's my opinion as a novel reader, if you enjoied the drama and the ending i'm really happy for you, I was just sharing my thoughts did't meant to offend or scourage the watch of the series also because people have different thoughts and can really enjoy something i not fully liked.
I can't understand this ending, they could have done like 4-6 more episodes. I really don't see the need to do such a useless episode as the last one and then telling us to wait for a special episode and a season2. I mean with this ending you're not encouraging to see what come next!
