Let's be honest Wei Wuxian, Ashile Sun, Fan Xian and Xu Fengnian aren't that dark and they get toned down alot compared to their source material. I don't think they're any darker than HFX who just erases the mind of his enemy in the recent ep. It's the nature of adapting for the broader audiences who have different sensitivity.

I agreed he wouldn't be as dark as the novel, but I think he will be darker compared to now, especially when the people he cares about getting hurt. I don't know what he would do if he knew for sure the bi**ch queen killed his mother.
