Simple but told in a Wonderful way to Captivate
Before that, I want everyone to know that the core of this drama is how to reconcile two big families that have a bad history because one of them betrayed, causing the other to be slaughtered. This is not about investigation or revenge, but how this marriage will lead the two main characters to reach a point where hatred is replaced by kindness with sincere love. (Side note: I like Slow-burn romance and not over-the-top comedic act elements here, they just suit my taste.)Wei Shao and Qiao Man are two complex characters, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. They are consistent in their personalities but also show development thorough it. LYN and SZE's acting is really great.
In addition, the other characters are no less important. Even when I thought that they were useless to the story, in the following episodes I was proven wrong.
They are complex in their own right, adding depth to the story. There are even some scenes where the characters are played so well that they can amazed and give me goosebumps.
This drama is simple but so well-made despite the budget is moderate. Hands down to the production team who worked hard to make this and the actors who acted brilliantly to be able to bring this story alive.
Of course this is not a masterpiece or a great work. They have some episodes that seem boring. After all, different audiences, different perspectives. However, sometimes what we think is boring, actually contributes to the story in this drama. So it is necessary to watch carefully to understand the story and why a character acts the way they do.
It is easy to assume that FL is evil and manipulative and ML is too submissive to his wife, when in fact all of these things have a clear basis and explanation in the drama.

I'm not saying this drama is bad. On the contrary.
This drama is good. As good as Hidden Love and that makes sense considering the scriptwriter is also the same.
But both have something in common that I don't like, which is the resolution of the conflict that seems trivial or too easy despite the problems that can be seen as quite important.
If this story is described with taste, then it's sweet. Too sweet, even. And that's not bad but not impressive either.

I fall In love with Li Landi
The story can be considered unique but at the same time is not either. At least for me, I struggle watching the first 10 eps and almost giving it up and throw it under the bus. But as I continue, I find myself get charmed by Li Landi. She so beautiful that I can't take away my eyes for a moment. Her acting as the character bring myself immersed on the show. Her chemistry with Tan Jianci made me giggle and smile upon their love-development's phase. Despite simple love storyish, I enjoy it from the bottom of heart, such light and comedic show deserve to be praised.Was this review helpful to you?
It's awfully difficult to continue!
If you think FL is a smart character because she can hinder the marriage with the Liang family at the beginning, you are very wrong!FL here turns out to be a very pure and 100% innocent character. She doesn't know how the world works and doesn't really understand the consequences of the law.
She only knows that if it's something she thinks is right, then it's right. If she thinks it's wrong, then it's wrong. She is the type who likes to do whatever she wants without caring about the consequences, because she was born a noble? Maybe.
But that's very, very childish.
And the way ML also immediately becomes obedient without any significant development shows that both of them don't have the maturity aspect of a couple. (Maybe because in this drama they are also young? Who knows.)
This factor is enough to make me often pat my chest, and indoctrinate my mind that everything will get better if I keep watching.
But unfortunately, my limit is at episode 14.
In terms of story, this drama is simple but has no appeal. But if you just want to watch the two main characters being affectionate without considering how they fall in love, I think you can enjoy it. Unlike me.

An Uncommon Yet Intrigue Story
A Dream within a Dream" isn't your typical drama, especially if you prefer straightforward plots and immediate resolutions. Those accustomed to shorter series or narratives where every conflict has a clear-cut ending might find this one challenging to fully appreciate or even understand.Many viewers mistakenly categorize this drama as a story primarily focused on intrigue, power struggles, or romance. While elements of these might be present, they aren't the central theme. Instead, the core of "A Dream within a Dream" lies in its unique exploration of a script's world gradually altering due to external influences. This intervention causes each character to evolve, inevitably forcing the narrative itself to adapt and shift.
These subtle transformations aren't always obvious at first glance, requiring careful attention to fully grasp. However, as the drama unfolds, every event meticulously builds towards a powerful climax, where the ultimate direction of the "script" is determined by the very characters living within it.
This is certainly not something you come across often, which is why I call this drama one-of-a-kind.

Coming into this drama without any expectation, the story failed so hard to make me engaged. More to be exact, is not interesting. It just medicore at best.
The production team seems confused of how to balance the romance and conflict aspect, causing either of each not well expanded.
ML is have good IQ but low EQ, to much immaturity to the point he is basically a pushover. He is confused whether to became good person or bad person. He is good at scheming but act and talk like upright person. That is hypocrite.
Only FL character that seems good enough here, specially since she forgotten her memory, her showcase as innocence little capable girl is good.
But the romance is not unfolded naturally. The way thing end up is just to rushed, causing the chemistry not presented. It's different when they still in sibling phase, which build up slowly and naturally.

What twist of Events!
When I'm done watching the 1st Ep, I cursed inwardly in positive way, 'Wow, this show is amazing. I might found A Hidden Gem!' But 2nd Ep managed to make me doubtful. Then watching until 12th Eps, I became frustated and decided to drop it for good.ML is complete trash and pushover. You can even question whether his vampiric is just an ability to prolong life only but not offering any superhuman strength.
FL became a achilles heel so many times to the point I have enought to see this wasteful story.
