Although it was brief, it was fun seeing the back hill gong zis hang out in episode 17. I hope we get to see more scenes of them together. Maybe a friendly duel to see whose technique has more style. Only Xue Chong Zi has a companion. The other two are so lonely. One found love but even that love was gone too soon. Poor Yun Que and Yue Gong Zi. You cannot help but feel something as you are watching. A really touching episode.

I really enjoyed episodes 15-16. This was a memorable turning point for our main leads in their relationships. With the fly poison “antidote” question answered, I hope to see GZY and YWS strengthen their new relationship even further and for YWS to free herself from her shackles with Wufeng. I hope to see GZY and GSJ/GYZ see each other in a different light and coming together. For the most part, we have seen the main leads grow during the course of the story, especially GZY. We see what they personally treasure and what they want. The person who appears to have not “grown” is SGQ. She appears to be the same person at this point of the story as compared to the beginning of the story. Outside of her mission, what or who does SGQ truly treasure or want? I root for YWS, Gong brothers and sister and JF. The person who I find harder to root for is SGQ.

I find the concept of time in this story interesting, still not sure if it is in a good or a bad way. Am I correct in thinking that the fly poison given to the Wufeng brides flare up every 2 weeks and that is why they need the antidote every 2 weeks? If this is correct, this means that it has only been about 3-4 weeks in the story but it is episode 11-12 in the drama. The brides were in pain due to the fly poison in episode 8. This means that at that point, only 2 weeks have passed since they arrived at the beginning of the story. I think the fly poison is a tool to help the audience keep track of time in the story. But it is jarring because the drama is already at the halfway mark. Why not make the fly poison flare up every month or every 3 months instead of every 2 weeks? With that said, I think it is reasonable for GZY to still be learning and practicing and for the romance between the main leads and the second leads to still be developing since it has only been a few weeks in the story. The episodes are packed with back stories and flashbacks, which slow down the current story.
