ok I understand a lot of people's complaints about WKX's reaction to ZZS in ep 31 and the rescue scene but I actually think it makes sense when you consider the development of their relationship. when I first watched it I was wondering why WKX wasn't more upset by ZZS's injuries. when I thought about it though it made sense. I don't remember what ep it is, but when WKX was drunk and reaching up to touch ZZS's chest, ZZS turned away from him and asked if he was trying to humiliate him. After that, if I remember correctly, WKX kinda stopped asking about his condition because ZZS doesn't respond well. So, in front of their enemies and subordinates during the rescue, WKX would put on a strong face in order to not humiliate ZZS. That's why the moment when WKX kneeled down was so emotional for ZZS because it was the most comforting thing he could hear, that he had loved ones, brothers, and disciples again. Rather than words, this is the greatest comfort for ZZS. Similarly, I think WKX learned how to comfort from ZZS. ZZS's style of comfort seems to be touch, rather than words, so whenever WKX is distressed he'll hug him, hold his hand, or touch his shoulder. So, when it was WKX's turn to comfort ZZS, he remembered how ZZS helped him. Rather than asking how he was or going crazy like he would have in the past, he puts his arm around ZZS. He understands what will be the most comfort to ZZS, physically being there. I also think this is why the hairpin scene is so sweet, because again, WKX doesn't have to ask how ZZS is or say anything about his condition, he just combs his hair and gives him his hairpin, silently telling ZZS that he's here for him and now they're tied together, which is what ZZS really wants - someone who won't leave his side again. idk just my interpretation.
