Hi Ana :) Thanks for your insight, as always. I absolutely agree that a person like that isn't relationship material, for all the reasons you described. The end goal for them, whether they realise it or not, is not BEING kind, but being PERCEIVED as kind. They can't bear people being disappointed in them. They want to feel good about themselves first and foremost and they don't acknowledge that by avoiding hurting someone's feelings a little right now, which sadly can't always be avoided, they hurt their feelings a lot more, later. It's egocentrism masked as caring, and it prevents any kind of honest connection. I don't think Da On's irredeemably evil, but someone needs to call him out on this bullshit sooner rather than later, for his own sake as much as for everybody around him.

Agreed. I’d love to get to know Tae Kyung a little more outside of his immediate interactions with the council members. I want to know more about his interests and likes and how he acts with people he already knows well like his family. Hopefully we’ll get to see some of that in future episodes!

Right? Especially for KaengPuth, that made zero sense to me. Like, to be very frank, you were both uhhhh...free-spirited before and now you're both crazy about each other, so chill mayhaps? That was seriously OOC for both of them, AND it deprived me of another iconic Kaeng fashion moment, so I was extra annoyed.
Well, this went pretty much as expected. Zero substance, lots of fluff. I did get Nuea both in a leopard print and a fishnet, so I'm counting that as a win. Also, a little detail I enjoyed was that in the couples where both had a signature colour, the colours switched in this last episode. Wardrobe department remains one of the highlights of this show. If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times: KaengPuth and SunNuea supremacy. Barring the first KaengPuth part, which was a bit cringe and, in my opinion, OOC, their interactions were once again my favourites during this episode. They're so lovely and touchy and clingy my teeth about rotted from all the sugar. While the series overall was not my favourite, I will be returning to their episodes in the future. Also, I'll take my full-length KaengPuth series and MaxNat in full feature main roles next, please and thank you!
I don't....like Da On lmao Being nice to people out of obligation, because you don't want to deal with conflicts/hurt feelings or can't say no to the point that you accept advances you don't actually welcome, letting people believe they have a shot when they don't...that's not kindness. Quite the opposite, in fact. It's so deceptive, too - how will people be able to tell whether their friendship with you is genuine or not? Ugh, just...no.
I'm also surprised that Tae Kyung seemed to react positively to this revelation about Da On's personality. From what we've seen, Tae Kyung has a very direct, honest communication style, almost to the point of being unintentionally confrontational, despite his awkwardness. I don't particularly see why Da On's lack of a spine would endear him to Tae Kyung - Tae Kyung is insecure about building relationships as it is, he doesn't need the added difficulty of someone like Da On who obfuscates his true feelings and whose kindness is, at least somewhat, performative.
Incidentally, this perceived flip-flopping of Tae Kyung's character made me think a bit more generally about whether or not dating sims make for good source material for a series. In a dating sim, the personality of the MC needs to remain, at least to an extent, a blank slate. The romance options in these games usually have wildly different personalities, so it wouldn't make sense that each of them would, in their respective routes, be the MC's one true love if the MC is developed in too much detail. A series is a linear story and therefore can only explore one romance route fully. In that context, an MC with too fluid a personality would translate as inconsistent, bad writing.
In addition, while I don't mind shows that have less plot and more character interaction, EP3 felt a bit too disjointed and would, I think, have benefitted from a bit more plot. It felt like the part in dating sims where you have a string of conversations before you decide which route to lock into and again, I'm not sure that that translates terribly well when you transition to the medium of a TV show.

There is a reason this is one of the shining stars of the BL genre. There's not much more I can say. To adapt a favourite Austen quote; if I loved this less, I might be able to talk about it more.
One thing I absolutely adore about this series is how much they include casual touch between Jin and Bbomb. Other BL series should take note. It helps the overall chemistry so much and makes the relationship seem that much more believable and lovely. It truly warms my heart.
As I suspected, I like EP2 a lot more! I still think the premise is a bit flimsy, but now that that is out of the way and the focus is on the characters interacting and getting to know one another, I'm really enjoying myself. If they continue like this, this will be a very sweet little series.

Anyway, this series continues to be the kind of campy entertainment I enjoy on a relaxing evening. I'm really happy with the potential side couple, and Sky being a secret sweetheart made for some cute moments.
