Just finished this and can’t wait for season 2! The journey of the FL was very satisfying so far. Reyzha was spunky against all odds. The supporting cast were great too. They all complimented each other. Can’t wait for the in-laws to go down and more time with Wang Yang.
can someone plz suggest a drama where the male lead in a position of power catches feelings but it's not enemies to lovers trope-? Bonus if they were not meant to be/destined in the first place
Actually the whole ML genius programmer is the thing i find ridiculous 😂😂How can a poor , underprivileged…
I knew how to code from sitting at internet cafes back in 2008 bro you had so much info online- in forums. even myspace needed fair bit of programming knowledge . by 2012 Apple was already releasing ipad minis which era are you from 😂
Yes I loved the drama. I thought the ML here is similar to the one in Just Between Lovers- I was looking for a more brooding, tough character who melts in the arms of his xx
What I liked about the Chinese version: the journal to Ximi 💔 FL’s version was full of her hopes and dreams and ML’s version was things he did in memory of Ximi and FL. That was so sweet 🥲
The plot went off the seams when the Dowager took over but this is what monarchies do to people. I loved the arc…
The ending was a disappointment. They went full Harry Potter- restoring the establishment like they did with Hogwarts. The king wanting more power is never good and I am glad they made his character grey but I wish they skipped him and the Dowager and focused more on the Left Minister and the Queen. Their relationship arc- their ideological differences was clear and the battle of wits between them was gripping but the Dowager and King were just agents of chaos.
The plot went off the seams when the Dowager took over but this is what monarchies do to people. I loved the arc between the queen and the left minister- enemies to mutual respect, would loved to see it explored more. Have seen Lee Joon in Silent Sea and imagine the kings character might take a surprising turn like his character there? A king wanting more power is a red flag. Anyway a happy ending is always no monarchy, so I don’t want to see it restored in the end.
While you can say that about Su Weiran and Ning Meng, I don't think Yimeng was trying to manipulate Jiming at…
Yi Meng had full control to let go, and in the end the decision was hers not LMJ. Even though she was not trying to manipulate LMJ she did try to take over his style and interior design. An example of a bad situation would be like how Kang Hye Won forced Lee Yeong Jae to commit to her by manipulating their childhood memories in Full House. I was praying that was not the case in this drama and I’m glad Yi Meng was mature enough to let go
very interesting how the romantic interests of the respective leads tried to manipulate them with nostalgia. The FL was most pragmatic, she got over her childhood crush but was still easily influenced. Nostalgia is never a critical place, it's purely emotional. Goes to show how easy it can be to control someone using sentiment of the past. I also see comments saying the FL should have been stronger. But honestly we can't have the perfect girlboss- it's the same with SA survivors- people expect them to be perfect victims- weak and submissive. This does a disservice to women as humans- they have many layers
