This is absolutely what I think. Also the novel has clearly articulated what their ending . :) So its clear to me also. What makes me sad is I wish we had more romantic OTP moments.

They really stink, and are annoying!
Yeah like the reason how OP suffered were because other than CM , they had pretty much useless friends. Who actively HARMED them rather than helped them. And they lived? Shi Yu was so confused by Xu ying that he did nothing for his people.

Having watched again, I am not sure why people keep saying its a BE ending. It was a HE for sure, rather crappily abrupt, like could they not have hugged? Ppl this is xiaxia - mystical stuff is a reality.

Plus novel is HE so I am not sure how far away they can run away from that. Is it the perfect flavour HE ? For sure, no. But it's something.
