I watched this drama twice. That's why I was able to come to a more (maybe) sensible conclusion.

SPOILERS AHEAD!!

Jung Ji Tae (the good chief) states at one point about JiSung's blood much more powerful and this sort of replaces the need of heart for him. I think he was able to survive without a heart afterall. But that still leaves one more plothole... what happened on the roof? did she leave him there as it is?
