Confusing mess, but a good timekiller

It has been over 12 months since I last seriously watched a K/J drama and have been itching to get back into it, I usually like to watch more obscure dramas, and romcoms to for an easy feel good watch that will help me remember the joy I had in watching these dramas, so this show seemed perfect! Until it wasn't.

This show starts off already on a weird foot in that the first episode was almost entirely a backstory, a boring, and convenient backstory that helps with the "main" storyline later (and is CONSTANTLY recalled but I wont go into that) but manages to get my interest in the last 10 minutes and continues to grow it for the next maybe 8 or 10 episodes or so, but thats when we start getting to the problems.

When I saw this was a love triangle drama, I kinda cringed, but seeing them try and write it made me cringe more, it comes off as so forced for the ML and FL to be together for most of it, and the third link just gets thrown under the bus for, again, convenience, despite him being arguably the better character. The mainstoryline (seperate from the romance) has many glaring holes but the worst has to be the police's absolute lack of ability, what do you mean you wont help protect the kid or girl from this guy who LITERALLY said in COURT he will hunt her down and kill her. And how did he get away in his second trial over murdering the old lady, how can blunt trauma to the head with a pipe wrench be mistaken for falling down, and dont get me started on the convenient death of that random countryside lady hiding him. I think the writers realised half way through that this would make the drama run short so they had to think of many stupid ways they could extend it around this guy in an effort to not make the second storyline really take the front stage.
The second storyline was quite obviously an afterthought, given there was 0 setup, but it also ironically is the more consistant and touching story, too bad the writers didnt think of having that forefront from episode 1.

This review has been more of a rant but as you can tell, I have greviences with this drama hence its 6.5 rating. However I still believe the drama is a good timekiller as it still really is a simple drama and can be enjoyable to a degree if you just go in with low expectations. I know many people like Lee Jong-Seok (I don't at all but whatever) so that is one reason for you to watch too.
