IMO this isn't BL romance its drama with BL elements. Romance has to be the primary focus for it to be a romance series so its not what I was looking for. Watched it because my guy loves this series, if I wasn't watching it with him I wouldn't be watching it. Great music, I love Earth and Mix is a good actor. Cinematography is good but the over-focus on the non-romantic plot bored me. GMMTV is just too wholesome - at least for me. Not gonna rate because I like the actors but at the same time I didn't enjoy it. Not knocking on anyone who did, I wish I enjoyed it because my guy loves it and it would be so much better for us both to be really into it. Ugh different tastes I guess lol.
People from Mydramalist love morally accurate shows that people can't find fault with. Anything that can't be…
Who gives a fuck about morality? It's just plain bad, acting is over the top and the script is childish. The people complaining about incest can self-immolate for all I care.
The writer of this show is the same as MODC. The writer of Obsessed, Crossing the Line and Trapped is the same…
Yes I know that now and it makes so much SENSE!!! We Best Love is amazing and it felt like a HIStory series albeit way shorter. I'm so sad she's no longer working with History because her stories were the best imo! I AM glad she's still writing though, I plan to follow her work no matter what company she's working with. This new series just really jarred me lol.
Im so hyped up and I don't understand why people judge it just from a trailer. History never dissapointed so why…
Same writer as MODC I guess, they apparently didn't learn their lesson - that writer SUCKS!!! And pretty much ruined HIStory's reputation with a lot of fans.
Everything is downgraded. The acting, the plot, the cinematography, the writing, the humor - It's disastrously bad and insultingly lazy. Whoever wrote this must have wrote the last episode of MODC, another disappointment but at least they knew how to act. I certainly will not be watching anything this writer has their name attached to if THIS is what I can expect. HIStory was once the best BL, now its like a Thai sitcom from 10 years ago - GARBAGE! *And no I haven't rated it yet - I'll try ONE more video (2 episodes) but this is so disappointing. We Best Love seems to have taken on the TRUE SPIRIT of what HIStory used to be about. First the decline with MODC and now... this. Obsessed, Crossing the Line and Trapped were the best of HIStory, THE BEST!
Right!! Like the series isn't anything I haven't seen before, but it's addicting and refreshing. The only thing…
I wish they were full-on brothers. Incest is only bad when its non-con, between those who can produce offspring or a major age-gap or power dynamic exists. Two bros, or two sisters, around the same age doesn't have any scientific or ethical reasons against it, only societal and cultural which are irrelevant to me anyways because some cultures think being gay is wrong and I don't listen to them either.
I'll be honest... I didn't like it. The pacing is jarring, nothing really connects the scenes at times - it just jumps from one thing to the next. It's pretty much just fan service with no real story. Not much of a build up to the romance. "I like you - "I don't like you" - "Here's some milk" - "Here's my locker combination" - "I like you" - "Okay" - "Let's hold hands" - "Okay". Don't get me wrong I think the leads are good actors and they do have a good chemistry but the writing to me is just bad. It feels more like a cut-down version of a full series with only the cute parts and a few dramas in a compilation. Even with the short total runtime I think they could have written a better story (Long Time No See is better imo and its short). To me, it seems they wanted to tell a much larger story than they had time for.
Alright then. I'll engage with this discussion. First of all, not every BL fan specifically wants to see the characters…
LOL you can say that again! Yes you are absolutely right, I see how this community is SO much different than what I'm used to and I like it so much more than getting down into the mud with people. True this community more reflects reality in that people in person are often WAY nicer and respectful. I can see how spending all day on social media (the toxic ones) could give anyone a bad impression about humans in general lol! This is a good place to cleanse myself of those preconceived notions.
Eeeee okay yes! OMG MODC was such a good series but that weird, confusing and completely out of nowhere ending arggggg! LOL I love re-watching MODC but now I skip the last episode and then watch Love on the Line to finish it haha. I would LOVE to see the Xia twins (or at least one of them) do their own BL, especially with that unrequited love De had for Gu - it was so cute! And I totally shipped En and Chun haha! HAHA P'Deeeeean!
Oh okay so it does seem (and I may be wrong) that Chinese fans DO in fact have a way of watching. If true then I'm glad because I don't like censorship to that level because its just tyrannical to me. I feel all should be able to enjoy the TV shows and movies they want to watch without big gov coming in and saying what you can and cannot consume. My personal feeling on the matter, I know not all agree.
Yeah I'll have to look into Chinese BL fandom more. All my Chinese friends are either American, Canadian or from Hong Kong lol! So I don't really have any idea about Chinese BL fandom in the mainland. I guess Hong Kong is technically mainland but they are quite different in their own way. I hope I'm not coming off as insenisitive. Yeah I'll have to learn a lot of it myself too haha.
Oh ok so a lot of them probably use a VPN, I thought so. Even I sometimes have to use one, my BF too. That part I do know because Hollywood does a lot of censorship in order to market to China. They don't necessarily censor it for us, but they censor it or allow it to be censored for China. So I know that while the government doesn't like the US, they and their people tend to like our entertainment lol! Even Xi is a fan of American films. Xi is a big fan of Game of Thrones, The Departed, The Godfather and Saving Private Ryan of all things lol! But yeah they rather have it on their own platforms then say Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, Disney Plus, ect.
Oh I believe I've heard about Weibo but yes don't know much of it beyond the name. LMAO gay dating app of China, well all I can say is that I'm glad Chinese LGBT+ have a way of meeting each other and finding solidarity in an increasingly homophobic environment (because of the government) in China.
The power of the people! I love it when the people stand up for what's right and win! And peacefully too! Ah yes, self-censorship is such a sad thing but I completely understand why they feel the need to do so. Here in the US, even with our own homophobic issues - I can't even imagine what it must be like to be an openly LGBT+ person in mainland China, especially in the North or East. I hear Shanghai is pretty good for Chinese gay community though, I hope that's true. My heart goes out to those who must either hide themselves or keep a low-profile simply to live as they are.
I expect that level of censorship from China, it was not always so. I'll be honest, even though he wasn't much better I miss Hu Jintao. Xi is just so mean to LGBT+ people. I'm glad they are able to find a way around the restrictions (kinda) but still its such a shame that they must just to enjoy what we often take for granted. OH maybe THAT is why Cherry Magic doesn't have a kiss scene? Maybe they wanted it to be allowed in China and not banned/censored like most other BL? Just my thought because I hadn't considered that. China, for all it's troubles, is a MAJOR market.
Those "traitors" are probably Chinese government officials or agents who infiltrate the "subversive" communities. It certainly wouldn't surprise me, even my government uses agent provocoteurs during protests in order to cause riots so that the military/police has to come in to break them up. See that's why I think its a corordinated attack by the Chinese gov, its too well executed and organized to be a mob. So any of those BL "traitors" were never allies to begin with imo - they are double-agents.
Yes and thank you for going into great detail! I still don't fully comprehend it, some things I just don't understand but I try lol! Thank you!
Oh I'll check it out! Yeah I don't speak Chinese but I can probably get some idea using google translate voice detection thingy.
I've seen the 55555 thing in Thailand meaning "lol". Never seen the 6666, although I've seen the 666 lol which has religious connotations of the negative sort in my nation. So 6666 meaning skillful? I love learning new things :P
Well thank you for the links I'll check them out when I have dinner later :P I know discussion cultures, nations, peoples can get kinda touchy and I hope nothing I said in my reply comes off as insensitive although I freely admit I'm ignorant to much about China (excluding the Han Dynasty period - Guan Yu and Zhuge Liang my favs!!!!) so I hope that you'll forgive that lol. Thank you so much for the great convo!!!
