Ohhh I know! I was really hoping they'd give him a romance line or just /something/ aside from the love triangle too. I'm a little disappointed about how they treated his character because it's just way too obvious he's the third wheel. Like in older kdramas the second lead would actually have a fighting chance? but in here he's just...there as a plot device, and it sucks. Ji Ah's bubbly personality would be perfect to heal his resentment ):

i'm totally the same way! on occasion i end up watching dramas just to see the romance between the secondary couples alone ha ha. we're only 6 eps in and in the recent two, there's actually more than a little screentime for one of them (which is like only a couple minutes, but still) so fingers crossed they'll keep it up. if you watch it i hope you'll enjoy it!
can any one tell me if there’s more couples than the first leads. Don’t hate me but I don’t like the lead…
so far there seems to be 2 secondary couples, but sadly their moments so far are pretty minor. i've noticed most of the screentime here is focused on the main leads, compared to something like Because This Is My First Life where the secondary chars have more screentime/story behind them.
I started watching this drama after seeing Lee Elijah's 10cm scene (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_P5Douowxtk),…
I wrote the initial comment after watching up to episode 4, and just finished episode 7. I've grown very fond of the characters, and the stories are warm and thoughtful. It's a touching sentimental drama, but don't be mistaken--it's not by any means tragic or heavy on the heart.
I appreciate the way it portrays people's hardships and most importantly, coping/healing. Each episode's ending ties up well, whether it be ending on a positive/lighter note, or offering some sense of resolution or clarity.
I started watching this drama after seeing Lee Elijah's 10cm scene (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_P5Douowxtk), but I'm staying for the ride. This isn't what you'd expect of a court-case law drama--its focus is more similar to a drama/slice-of-life series set within the law world. It was so easy to fall in love with the cast, and the male lead here in particular is sweet and considerate, which is refreshing.
There are some dramas that have elaborately original and well-crafted stories, wring every tear from your eye, or give you gratuitous amounts of romance--all of which I love and have lived on for the longest time.
Lawless Lawyer is none of those, and makes it clear from the start--you can see it right in the first few minutes of the drama, and actually, even the opening theme! From the get-go, it's very straightforward and pulls no punches with what it wants to deliver: quality entertainment. Just go into it expecting to have a good time, rather than something completely original, and you'll be able to enjoy it to its fullest.
This straightforwardness is also reflected in the entirety of the drama: from the romantic aspects to the storyline, the plot moves quickly and isn't melodramatic. As a plus, there's good music, and most importantly, the action scenes are SO well executed. Car chases, fights, and overall directing flows very well. Fingers crossed it'll remain this way throughout!
(While I'm here I also want to mention how much I love Jae Yi. She's competent and she catches on to things pretty quickly, yet she's still got her quirks. If you've watched Just Between Lovers, her personality and even looks/voice is similar to Moon Soo, erring more on the hot-tempered side.)
This drama has convinced me to get a Viki Kocawa pass alone and was the most unexpected surprise of 2018 dramas. I’m up to the latest episode (8) and am genuinely blown away by the story, directing, acting, music—everything. Going in I didn’t expect any of this! It’s hard to believe we’re only 4 hours in but the quality speaks for itself, and I hope it continues to deliver.
What I love is how the child actors and “past” scenes are woven into the drama in a natural way. Normally dramas don’t place extreme care into flashback scenes and they only serve to clarifying the plot, and are sometimes used as fillers. Often they disrupt the flow of the episodes, but in this drama, you can evidently see the love and care that was put into crafting these scenes. It makes the transitions from past to present so seamless and beautiful; really brings the drama full circle.
I’m also very glad they took the chance and cast Jin Ki Joo & Jang Ki Yong as the leads—they’re doing a fantastic job so far.
this drama, a rare gem. the thirty-minute episodes make it easily digestible (and yet i find myself bingewatching it); there is humor in all of the right places, and plenty; the chemistry between the leads and the acting is on-point, both in their delivery of lines and emotions conveyed. the story isn't overly complicated, and the pacing is just right.
even the darkest moments in this drama aren't depressing--rather, they're touching. in the few moments i choked up, i'd whisper under my breath how much i loved this drama, rather than how much i hated a character, a circumstance within the storyline, etc. etc. that would have been my usual reason.
The first 8-9 eps were perfection. From episodes 10 and onwards, I had a very apprehensive/uncomfortable feeling as if the show was changing pace, and surely enough, it did.
If you want to hang in there for the sweetness, episodes 10-12 are what you could consider the "happy ending"; 13 and beyond begin dealing with the disappointing thick of the plot that was long kept from us--a buildup that broke the pacing and lighthearted, sweet direction the drama initially presented--and one I felt largely disappointed by...perhaps only because I was so continually impressed by each and every episode leading up to it. There were no warning signs, or at least I didn't see it coming, and it resulted my and some other viewers' disoriented feelings.
I'll probably re-watch the first 8-9 again because they were so darn sweet! The drama is worth watching for the wonderful, colorful cast. The secondary characters are well-developed and you'll more than likely warm up to them and have plenty of scenes to enjoy in those episodes alone.
If you want another drama to watch in a similar vein, tvN's Tomorrow, With You carries the same sense of maturity and understanding between the two leads. The plot's a little more stressful (and pretty crazy), but the ending won't let you down, and the plot pacing is slow but very solid.
Watched this a month or two back; it's light and sweet. Hong Bin is a little too princely/charming for his role so it's a bit unbelievable at times. All in all, a cute and short drama!
Unpopular opinion maybe, but I'm enjoying this one much more than the others (MG, BOF, and the original HYD). After watching the others and dropping two (MG and HYD - while I managed to stick out BOF only for the romance between Yi Jung and Ga Eul), watching yet another remake was the last thing on my mind. But on a whim, I decided to watch it today.
I'm 12 episodes in, and find it to be quite a bearable watch! At 45 minutes per episode, I find each one to pass by pretty quickly. From the past dramas I've grown to hate the F4 from the get-go, but I like them much more in this drama. Except for Rui (Lei).. haha. Which is good, because it got me to really enjoy the romance between the two main characters. :| Zheng Shuang and Zhang Han make an adorable couple and I'm enjoying their cute moments a lot more than between Barbie and Jerry; Hye Sun and Min Ho; and Mao and Jun. Also, for once, none of the characters are super malicious (quite the opposite). If anything, this is a drama to watch if you don't feel like dealing with those types of characters.
Of the four remakes I know of, this strays most from the original HYD. It's definitely not a bad thing; rather, it's quite refreshing. So far..!
A year ago, I was struck by the great chemistry between Janine and Peter in Le Jun Kai, but as I wasn't avidly watching dramas then, I soon forgot about it until now.
I've seen most reviewers and recappers (from blogs) call Ring Ring Bell out for the poor writing; however, those who'd like to give it a try shouldn't be deterred.
In spite of its flaws, Ring Ring Bell has become my favorite drama and was an immensely enjoyable watch! The pacing throughout the story was perfect and didn't drag on - something that many dramas tend to struggle with. Also, it's actually less cheesy than other dramas I've watched. The chemistry between these two leads shouldn't be missed and their acting is superb.
On a different note, those who want to see Janine and Peter should check out "Of Love and Rain" on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q46riVWUUHQ :') It's a cute short film of four parts. This was actually what fueled my motivation to watch Ring Ring Bell.
