I literally gasped at this moment though. I was a doubter to the handhold theory of ep 7 at first but thankfully I was proven wrong and things are progressing quickly.

No problem! Every country has their own typical BLs and this type of wholesome/cute show is very typical for Japan. This show is gonna be fulfilling emotionally but they won't be easygoing with physical relations like in Pinoy/Thai BL. So the fans who watch this show (like me) mostly just love those smaller cute moments between them. For us that's already a huge thing to happen since we are in the mindset of Japanese BL here.
