Low Expectations, Unexpectedly Addictive

I was hesitant at first, especially since there wasn't much hype surrounding it online. But I was looking for something short and easy to watch, and I definitely don't regret giving it a chance. This drama filled that sweet spot perfectly, and I enjoyed it far more than I expected.

The first three episodes were a little slow and somewhat difficult to follow, but once everything started falling into place, I found myself completely hooked and unable to stop watching.

Eun Chae Ni, Son Gyeong Un, and Kang Ro Bin were all fantastic characters. While Lee Un Jeong may have seemed a bit bland in comparison, he was the voice of reason among a chorus of chaos—and provided a much-needed balance to such an explosive group dynamic.

There are still a few unanswered questions, which I won't get into because I'd like to keep this review spoiler-free, but they left me curious rather than frustrated. I genuinely hope we get a second season.

Must watch!

Alchemy of Souls completely swept me away and was an absolute joy to watch, especially Season 1. While the series certainly has its flaws, the strength of the storytelling, character development, and emotional investment it builds makes them easy to overlook.

I loved everything about Season 1. The characters, the plot, the perfect balance of comedy and romance, and the fascinating fantasy world. Fantasy isn't usually my go-to genre, but this drama completely changed my perspective and I'm more open minded to it.

Jang Uk and Mu Deok quickly became one of my favorite drama couples. I'll admit that after the first episode I was rooting for Seo Yul, but as the story unfolded, I found myself completely invested in the journey of the main leads and their incredible chemistry.

The drama is visually stunning, beautiful costumes, and magical. Paired with an incredible soundtrack that elevates every emotional moment, Alchemy of Souls delivers an experience that is both captivating and memorable.

Absolutely loved it

I haven't seen many k-dramas, but Twinkling Watermelon is so far my favorite. It is one of those rare shows that feels warm, comforting and somewhat nostalgic. It balances humor, romance, and emotional moments beautifully, especially Cheong-ah's storyline. Her journey is heartbreaking, and her struggles made some of the most emotional moments in the drama. Overall, Twinkling Watermelon is a touching, feel-good drama with memorable characters and wonderful soundtrack.

More than I ever expected

This drama left a lasting impression on me... I was hesitant to start it at first because the synopsis didn’t sound particularly appealing to me, despite the countless recommendations. I’m so glad I decided to give it a chance. So if you're anything like me and have been putting this drama off, I hope this review gives you that little push to finally watch it.

I enjoyed every second of this show. Even during the quieter moments when not much was happening, I was completely invested. The main storyline was captivating, and the characters made every scene worthwhile. I LOVED THEM ALL.

I went through a full range of emotions while watching which is something that doesn't happen often for me. I felt happy, sad, angry, frustrated, and even embarrassed at times.

SPOILER!!

My only complaint is, I would have loved to see more reactions from the supporting characters when Ji Eun Tak died. We didn't get to see that at all. The ending felt a little anticlimactic also. After everything the characters went through I wanted a more emotional payoff. I was hoping to see them run into each other's arms, overwhelmed with relief and excitement. Those moments felt like missed opportunities and would have made the finale even more satisfying.

Despite that, this is still a drama that will stay with me for a very long time, and one that I would happily recommend to others.
