It’s been quite some time that I read the novel, but I’m pretty sure that the scene from GT with SWL was multiple…
I just finished the novel (or at least what has been translated) and it was indeed spread out over multiple chapters./moments. I don't fully remember it it all took place at the same time or over multiple days. But storywise in the novel it's multiple flashbacks and moments where either SWL or GT remember what happened and we then get an explenation. I liked how they did it in the show. It was more streamlined and clearer what happened. After finishing the episode I immidiately went back to rewatch the scenen. It was so well done.
