Very interesting! I think a first step would be to stop talking about "forced kiss" and say loud and clear it doesn't exist. If it's not consensual it's an assault. And it clearly shouldn't be portrayed as something romantic in any media. I'd like to see dramas where such a behaviour is clearly condemned and where the FL doesn't end with a man being an assaulter at some point of the story. And it's not less terrible if the guy is handsome.
I think I drop many dramas because I try a lot. < same. I try almost all currently airing kdramas... big majority…
There was a moment when I organized my watching planning the same way I organize my work. That's when I realized I had a problem. Watching dramas wasn't something pleasant anymore, but a task I had to fulfil. Like you said: exhausting! Definitely not the way I want to feel about dramas! It made me think.
I went from "every drama is a gem" to "I drop a lot" too ^^ I think I drop many dramas because I try a lot. Every plot or comment that seems interesting makes me put a drama on my PTW list, so it's probably normal that a lot of them finally won't be for me... When a drama seems interesting, I watch the first episode. If I really dislike it, I drop the drama. If I don't like it, but the plot or characters have anything interesting that can improve the story, I keep going. As long as I enjoy what I watch, I keep going. If I don"t anymore, I drop the drama, even if it's near the end. And I stopped keep watching because of good comments. If I don't like it, I don't like it. That doesn't mean the drama is bad or that people who like it have bad tastes, it's just not for me. I prefer to give a chance to another drama I might be able to enjoy more than suffer with one I don't like. No big deal, it's supposed to a hobby, not a chore ^^
Nam Ki Ae, Yoo Mi's mother in My secret romance Song Ok Sook, Jung Hwan's mother in Father is strange Shin Dong Mi, Ji Hoon's mother in Father, I'll take care of you (well I disliked every mother in this drama... but she was the worst)
i am at episode 33 and the events still haven't played out in the drama, only that the main female lead is starting…
Too bad for me, but nothing of what says the summary at ep 33 and the ML is the only character I like... I prefer trying another drama. Thank you anyway ;)
It's not cliches, it's realistic and Asian culture. Before saying the parents are annoying, perhaps be a little…
English is not my first language, so I may sometimes not understand all slight differences or not express myself precisely enough ;) I'm glad I didn't offend you, this discussion is very interesting. I totally undestand why Tong Nian's mother is worried, this the way she reacts that bothers me. And herself says that she has been too rash, so why do it anyways? I don't like that kind of plot because, we, romcoms fans, know it won't change anything in the end. So why can't parents be enjoyable to us from the begining? I want to see supportive and comprehensive parents at least once lol.

Ok, so I offended you by expressing my feelings about it? I didn"t mean it... You think I'm judging both western and eastern people on the "same standard" (well, some western parents act exactly the same way than eastern ones, you know?), but that's not what I'm trying to say. I just explain how it makes me feel when I see that kind of invasive families going so far, whereever they're from. More, what is annoying me the most is that writers almost always use that kind of plot to slow their stories... That's how it's a cliche, to me. My point is that it wouldn't be bad if dramas' families could sometimes be happy for their children instead of systematically be against their choices. Are there only families that never accept their children love stories in Asia? I can't believe that. I've just finished watching the episode yesterday when I posted my message, so I might have been a little pissed off, I can see it in the words I used lol. But that makes me so sad to never see families just being happy for their children when they find their "one" in dramas...

"To say "let the children work it out" is only her way of polite refusal." Isn't it hypocritical from her to say such a thing while she's just done the total opposite?

You got me wrong, this is not an understanding or judging other culture. I felt the same thing about parents in US or UK series as well (Nora in Brothers and Sisters, for example, is one of the mothers I hate the most in seriesland). But you can't deny that in romcom dramas, there is always a moment when some family members come to make a mess into the leads relationship. I'm sure in Asia not all the families are invasive to that extent. Being concerned and care about your child's future is one thing. Sabotage your daughter's relationship behind her back is totally different.

For once the ML isn't a cold arrogant jerk bullying the FL, so refreshing!
Thank you anyway ;)
I was interested because of what the summary says... I'll drop it, then.
