I'm sorry. Really, I am. But the character he portrayed in Hidden Love was not Sang Yan. It was cute, and it really made a lot of sense within that dynamic and story and I'm not mad about that, I truly loved him there. but it's just not the same character. I don't mean to offend anyone or to be mean about it in any way whatsoever, I just wish people realized that it's not about him. This story, First Frost, is very delicate and it touches on many heavier topics, it has many layers and so do its characters. Victor is amazing, and I'm honestly anxious to see more of him, just not here.

Hmm, I think it's just as well-known as Hidden Love, as the target of the novel is pretty much the same, but in my case, I started reading First Frost before knowing about HL and only ever got around to reading HL because it was already fully translated and the author's writing style attracted me a lot. About the hype, I think it's because there's been discussion about this being made into a drama way before Hidden Love, so there's been a lot of speculation around the cast because the characters have very specific traits and particularities (way more than Jiaxu and Zhizhi, I think), and their story is also very special. But, seeing how great Hidden Love came out, I think it heightened the expectations of fans (myself included) for First Frost. We all just hope it to be as beautiful as the novel, because that's one story that truly deserves it.
Even though I loved Victor as Sang Yan in Hidden Love, it's undeniable that he's not the right fit for Sang Yan in First Frost. And even in HL, it took me a few episodes to get used to his character being all goofy and moody instead of the cold, self-assured and distant guy we fell in love with in the novel. Eventually, I just had to accept his personality made sense in that context, but his dynamic with Wen Yi Fan will be a whole lot different, and we need a different actor for that.

Yeah, I think so too. I don't know if he has an illness, but he certainly thinks he's doing the best for her. I don't think for one second he's over their relationship. Maybe that's why he actually went on the trip; to get some sort of closure, or to end their story on a good note. Either way, I'm very curious. And even though I'm not one to enjoy romantic triangles, I think the second-lead may come as a catalyst for the ML to open up and be completely honest with her about his reasons.
I really enjoyed this first episode. I think the FL should have a little bit of self-respect, but her antics are overall funny to me (except for, you know, trying to get into his house without his consent). I do understand her motivations, considering they were happy in their relationship and the break up came out of nowhere, though.
I reeeeally like this drama, but I think Piggy Nian is really hard to bear. His whole demeanor towards Lu JiaJia, using her as a maid and taking her for granted, while also sabotaging any relationship she may have even though he's not brave enough to confess to her... It's all too much, and very unfair too.
