On Hi Bye, Mama! Apr 19, 2020
Loved the drama, and cried so much lol. Even though I knew, going in, that it was one of those dramas designed to make you cry, that didn't stop it from rendering me a blubbering mess! I think this is the first thing I've seen with Kim Tae Hee. She has very quickly become one of my favourite actresses!

Person Kim Mi Soo
Wow, Hi Bye, Mama! was her first drama? I hope to see Kim Mi Soo in more shows in the future!
On Man from the Equator Feb 6, 2020
Just finished watching this drama and enjoyed it. It was basically a modern, Kdrama version of The Count of Monte Cristo, which I've read and also enjoyed, many years ago. Although there were some obvious differences, there were also so many parallels between the drama and that book that it's definitely not a coincidence. To further confirm that, there's a mention of "Alexandre Dumas - The Count of Monte Cristo" in one of the episodes. Anyway, I really enjoyed the acting in this, especially that of Uhm Tae Woong
On The Bride of Habaek Jan 12, 2020
Since it recently came to Netflix UK, I watched it. I tend to binge watch dramas, so I finished this in 2 or 3 days. It was ok, but didn't seem special to me. I certainly wouldn't rewatch it, but it at least kept me engaged as I watched. I didn't really feel anything for Habaek, or the main relationship. I'm a fan of Lim Ju Hwan, and in this, he was fantastic as usual. I discovered the show after searching Netflix for "Lim Ju-Hwan", and he was the main reason I kept watching.

Happy birthday! ❤️ I saw that Seolhyun made a 50 million won donation for her birthday, which will be used to help the youth in Korea, through building youth shelters. She's truly a beautiful soul inside and out.

Title Ugly Alert
Wow. It took me 6 days to watch this drama. I was hooked from start to finish! I absolutely fell in love with the character of Gong Jun Su, and the love between him and Na Do Hee. I didn't realise that Kim Seol Hyun, who plays Gong Na Ri, is a member of the idol group AOA! Her appearance now is quite different from what it was six years ago, but there are still some aspects that remain similar (like her smile). I never really paid attention to AOA before, but now I'll be checking out a few of their songs/variety show appearances to see her.

I look forward to rewatching Ugly Alert after a year or two, though I want to learn Korean first (as much as I'm able to in that time), so that I can watch the show on the official SBS vod (video on demand) website, and not have to deal with the often difficult-to-understand English subs again. I'm sure it will be a different experience to rewatch it if I don't need to rely on the subs.

Person Im Joo Hwan
I first saw him in Oh My Ghostess. He stuck in my mind afterwards, and I wanted to see him in a lead role. Now I've just finished watching Ugly Alert and damn... I think he's my favourite kdrama actor! I cried so much watching that series; his acting is so sincere and good.

I'm looking forward to watching more of his heartfelt performances in the future!

Title A Korean Odyssey Spoiler
Seriously, im so happy to see another person appreciating this drama, it doesnt deserve all the hate imo!! Just…
Hmm, that's a difficult one.. The way that I see it, there were two loves that Son Oh Gong felt for Jin Seon Mi. The most obvious is the forced one due to the Geumganggo. But the other one is the love he developed for her over time.

This is purely my own belief, but I think that Jin Seon Mi has the kind of personality that Son Oh Gong would naturally fall in love with. If he had been able to remove the Geumganggo early on, his forced love would vanish and he never would have had the chance to fall in love with her.

Hypothetically, if the Geumganggo didn't force him to love her, but still forced him to protect her, I think after spending all that time and those experiences together with her, he would still have fallen in love with her. So rather than forcing him to love her, I see it as forcing him to realise he loves her.

I could be completely wrong, and I didn't really think about it until I saw your comment, but that's how I see it.

Title A Korean Odyssey Spoiler
So here’s the deal: I just completed this drama for a second time and we can all agree that the CGI sucks, but…
I've just finished watching this on Netflix for the first time. I enjoyed it a lot, but man, so many tears were shed from the end of episode 19 onwards!

I think my favourite character was Jin Bu Ja (before she was taken over by Asanyeo). But I also liked Woo Ma Wang a lot - such a funny but tragic character. And I liked the romance between Jin Seon Mi and Son Oh Gong too :D

The OST was great! I especially liked the song If We Were Destined, by Ben.

Title A Korean Odyssey Spoiler
i don't want to put my logic here and ruin drama for those who has not even watched it but i'm curious to know…
The way that I understand it, the black dragon is formed when evil spirits and evil energy gather and combine. The longer the dragon is left alive, the more powerful it becomes. So every now and then (1000+ years), they need to awaken it and destroy it to remove all the evil energy from that place. If they leave the dragon, it may become too powerful for anyone to defeat, and then the spiritual realm will constantly be worried about an evil human learning about the dragon and trying to summon it. Soo Bo Ri said at one point that even if they were to kill Kang Dae Sung and Asanyeo before they can awaken it, others would simply rise and take their place in the future.

Since that stream/valley always gathers evil energy, after the dragon was defeated this time, Woo Ma Wang decided to leave the entertainment industry and open a hotel there. When the evil spirits appear near that stream, they will be attracted to the humans in the hotel, and then Ma Wang can destroy them, which means they can't join together to become another black dragon again in the future. He also gets points for this, and can therefore become a deity faster, so it's win-win :)

Title Overprotected Kahoko Spoiler
The japanese kids pretty often don't say "I" or "Me", but use their name instead. She pretty much try to act like…
It took me one or two episodes to realise it, but Kahoko appears to be on the autism spectrum. Watching more episodes only makes me more certain. She seems to be a high-functioning 'girl with autism'. Her tantrums and reactions, as well as the fact that her character was later than usual in life to start talking and still has difficulty getting her thoughts out properly, paint a pretty accurate portrayal of this, and I was actually impressed with the actress' ability to play such a character so well. Of course I could be wrong and it's just a weird portrayal of a 'cute' character, but I'm 90-something percent sure of what I said above. People on the autism spectrum can 'have the mind of a child' even if they're technically an adult.

As for non-cringey dramas, I highly recommend Code Blue! It's a medical drama starring Yamashita Tomohisa, Aragaki Yui, and Toda Erika. First season was in 2008, followed by a special in 2009, a second season in 2010, a third in 2017, and a movie coming out this year.
