I think he was too focus on proving his worth with his father by succeeding in his career so he set up the perfect wife who can assist him and he thought it was a mutually beneficial situation and didn't believe that she truly loves him. Now he's starting to believe that she loved him.

I haven't watched the last 2 episodes but I saw from the comments he redeemed himself a little bit. I never really hated him. Maybe I'm so used to vertical dramas with red flag MLs that this didn't really bother me much knowing he will have a redemption arc.
