Okay can we talk about the fact that I used to watch this and go crazy on all of the spicy scenes? Who knew about 14 years later, the author of the manga woke up to receiving an offer from the film production company saying that they want to remake the movie series of Takumi Kun? I NEVER EXPECT A REMAKE AT ALL. At first I thought it was a continuation of the manga and it will be about when Takumi visited Gii in America but accident happened and he lost his memories for a while. But nom It's a remake of the WHOLE SERIES. OMG. Can't wait to see how they'll handle all the spicy scene though.
I have high hopes in the remake as the director is the same as the other old Takumi Kun series and also Seven Days (which is my first japanese BL drama ever and it was soooooo good) The actors seems very promising too, knowing that I've seen most of them acting in dramas/stageplays (a lot of them are new actors though especially Shion as Takumi and Kizu as the seme in the second couple.
I can't stop rewatching episode 5. The hug scene was so perfect and the part where Kaburagi licked the yogurt??!?! omg. I can't stop crying at the hug scene, the acting and the detail was so perfect there. The protective and tight hug given from Kaburagi screams "I won't give you to anyone" and Onoe hugs back with a gentle and comforting feel feels like he's saying "I'm all yours now" AND THE WAY HE SNUGGLES HIMSELF IN THE HUG BECAUSE HE FELT COMFORTABLE. The hug DOES NOT FEEL AWKWARD AT ALL.
I wrote a comment yesterday on episode 5 but I was berry sleepy. Anyways, I REWATCHED EPISODE 5 AGAIN AND PLEASE to those who are skeptical to watch it PLEASE JUST WATCH IT it may be awkward in the beginning BUT TRUST ME episode 3 and episode 5 will make you fall in love 😭 I AM SCREAMING AT THE LAST SCENE OF EPISODE 5 OMG.. I won't spoil to keep you curious so you can check it out yourself, their chemistry is over the top.
To watch legally, you can watch in GagaOOLala or Viki. For those who can't subscribe to any of these, you can go watch in Kissasian, bilibili or myasiantv
Coming back from episode 5, honestly I can't see how the acting is that terrible because those two are finally clicking! The scene where Kenta was threatening Kabu caught my attention and I was like "Oh no, Onoe" One thing I really love about those two is that they never hesitated to do the kiss scene especially on Kabu side, he just initiated the kiss without even being obviously nervous or trembling on screen, and even Onoe closed his eyes as he knew the kiss was coming and he wasn't trying to back up, unlike some other JP bl dramas I've watched, you can see the two actors shaking out of embarrassment while trying to act out a kiss scene (even just a peck on the lips) so that's one good thing about this drama. AND KENTA SAVED THE DRAMA, I GUESS? I love how he's always that one character who steals yo man lmaoo.. just like in The Novelist, Zettai BL and now this
Coming back from episode 4! I'm starting to love this drama even more than ever before. I am not disappointed. Remember not to keep up high expectations because of other good dramas such as Utsukushii Kare or Eien no Kinou, because it's actually a good drama compared to other cringe ones like Kare ga Boku ni Koishita wake or ahem... Oh My Assistant. Their acting has improved a lot since they got used more to their characters and chesmitry is really good especially when they're outside of work. It's just that they're very nervous and embarassed on screen.
For me honestly as a non-fan of either of the leads and as I have not read the manga, I'm quite enjoying the series…
Looking back at their interviews and rewatching the episodes, I'm slowly liking the drama more than before! Chemistry in drama may seems meh, but promise me outside of filming, they're very close to each other. They even went to a sauna together, give each other birthday gifts, ate dinner together, have the exact same clothing taste and even consulted the cameraman for the Best angle for the kiss scene!

The only thing that made me stay and watch the drama (aside from being a huge fan of the two male leads) is definitely the supposedly "spicy" scene (the ear-blowing scene and first kiss scene) and the weird feeling of watching my favorite idol acting all panicky and submissive. But that's all, I can't help but cringe everytime they talk to themselves with VERY unnecessary lines or how a lot of the most important scenes are left out/changed. For example where is the scene when Onoe imagined that Kaburagi did "that" to him? Or the scene where Kaburagi gave him a candy in the car during their Asaoka case investigation (which was replaced with the rooftop-smile-heartbeat scene) WHICH IS LITERALLY THE MOST relevant scene of the manga? Because the drama is represented with cameras, pens and CANDIES. Those candies came from Kaburagi, who smokes, eats candies whenever he's not allowed to smoke in certain areas (or uses it to flirt with girls, and Onoe was the first non-target to receive the candy from Kaburagi)
agreed. feels like they're fighting over something invisible and when they're like, "wow, you're amazing," it…
It's very weird that they had to include that part in the drama when it didn't even happen in the manga. The "why is my heart beating so fast" scene is suppose to happen right after he hugged Kaburagi and ran away.. and they changed that part. Also the Yakuza investigation thing was supposed to take place on nighttime and their office was a very luxurious but unwelcoming building full of securities. It's sad how they changed a lot of the scenes which kinda ruins the story in general and makes their acting look even more awkward
Honestly, and I mean it, HONESTLY as a hugeee fan of the two actors (Keito as Onoe and Jyutaro as Kaburagi) I'm actually quite disappointed from their acting. The rivalry between the two of them in the drama was not as intense as the one in the manga. It's like they're arguing about something invisible, and I guess thats because the lack of scenes and the stiff acting.
Don't get me wrong, I love these two for their good dancing skills (especially Keito) and singing (Jyutaro) but I guess they still have to work on their acting skills.
Surprisingly though, I've watched another drama called Cool Boys Only High where Keito was the guest actor and he acted so well in there, miles better than this one. Maybe you should give it a try and watch it, it's very funny but it's not BL.
Another thing I'm very disappointed at is the same "shook" face of Onoe put on the whole drama. He just looks so shocked and disgusted for no reason the whole episode. Why am I so disappointed? Although that's the kind of expression the MC did in the whole manga, KEITO IS VERY GOOD AT CONTROLLING HIS EXPRESSIONS. And I mean it, when he dances, when he performs on stage, he can change his emotions so fast within seconds. He can look very sad and in love, to annoyed and provocative seconds later. I don't know why he didn't use that skills of his as an advantage in this drama. He's well known for being good at controlling his expressions on stage. He's probably not used to acting so cute, tsun tsun and moreover the main lead.
Now time to comment on Kaburagi's character. Visual wise, YES. Acting? ....meh He is annoying enough for me to punch him in the face though, but not aggressive enough especially the last scene in Episode 3. He barely even touch Onoe, just moving his fingers around his collar, and Onoe gave a very dramatic reaction, which I kind of liked but the lack of aggressiveness from Kaburagi make it seemed veryyy unbalance and no chemistry. He could've just took off the coat more aggressively and stroke his neck or even his EARS. Onoe has sensitive ears, remember?
In conclusion, I don't wanna blame the actors acting skills too much as they have very little acting experience, moreover its their first time acting in a BL (with few spicy scenes, they're definitely not used to that)
How much would I rate them so far? I'd say 5.5/10, I can't say it's not that bad but I can't say it's good either. I hope episode 4 will raise up my expectations a little bit.
the production quality on ep 2 is MUCH higher Also, I love how gangs are hanging corporate signs outside their…
From random two guys in a car with big ass cameras, with a big ass telescope on the rooftop and the celebrities not even aware there are paparazzis around knowing she's a big star and is involved with Yakuza, to kissing the guy in public, AND THE RANDOM YAKUZA OFFICE OUT IN THE OPEN
