9/10. Objectively, I'd give it a 8.5 but I'm weak for this universe and Shen Yi saved this one for me. The very last scene is what I wanted to do the whole season. DC was frustrating to watch. I hope the writing is more solid in s3 (if there is one), especially with the characters. Anyway, I enjoyed this weird ride.
When Captain Lu was asking Shen Yi to come with him I was begging him in my mind to accept but ofc the writers…
I'm still not there. And I don't get the hype for their "relationship". I've never seen chemistry there. Just two very different coworkers trying to coexist (and DC barely cooperating).
Me too for me it has always been a Shen Yi centric story not a Shen Yi- Du Cheng story, so it doesn't bother me…
We have the same reading about the characters. Thanks for sharing your perspective and bringing back some details about S1 I have forgotten about (my memory sucks).
They truly failed at character growth for DC, which is this season's weakness. Yeah, he's my least fave character and I don't mind he has less screen time, but he's an essential part of the story, so it feels lacking in that aspect. Sometimes I see him and it's like they forgot what happened in S1. He just "worries" about SY but it doesn't feel authentic. Same for other characters (I'm barely in ep. 8 and when he can't see that something is wrong with Li Hai I wondered where that brilliant officer went).
I want them to take SY to the very depth of this soul. It's a frightening place but he needs to go there. Just joining the police won't heal things magically. It would be really interesting to see the closure you propose: leaving or transferring.
Everyone complaining about SY taking the spotlight and for me the story has always been about him. Also, DC this season is even more annoying and his lack of empathy makes him looks dumb sometimes. I'd said writers were kinda lazy with him this season. Yet idc. I love what I've seen so far. If they were to repeat s1 formula, it'd be boring somehow.

the writing was so stupid I was rolling my eyes most of the time. such a waste of talented actors!
