as someone who doesn’t fall into that category I was still annoyed at the ending, not because it was sad but…
They obviously planned an open ending for all these remakes, spin-offs, soft reboots, etc. Of course, with cameos from Frontman and other characters. I wouldn't be surprised if that twist (you get what I mean) was done to completely cut off the connection of the further franchise with the main storyline of the Korean series.

Either way, expect that in 3-4 years you will read in interesting facts somewhere on IMDB that "the series was originally Korean" etc.
On Squid Game Season 3 Jun 29, 2025
Title Squid Game Season 3 Spoiler
Many people seem to forget the main message of the whole show - even with greed and oppression of the weak, there are still people whose pride and altruism are so strong that they can sacrifice everything for others even in a situation where their life is on the line. Son's last line sells this pretty straight.

He could have sacrificed the child and won the game for the second time in a row, but he sacrificed his life for the child's life, being true to his oath to her mother until the very end. And even Hwang admired this, declaring him a winner as well, appreciating how much he had surpassed him morally.

Title Squid Game Season 3 Spoiler
IMO they've ended it on a mostly satisfying note. The goal of stopping an organisation was never achievable. And…
Son's goal was to stop the game to avenge the deaths of the players of the first game and, if possible, save the players of the second game...plus the oath of the child's mother. In a sense, he was able to do everything he could, the Korean game was stopped, the child survived, etc. But on the other hand, it's a bittersweet ending for obvious reasons.

Very underwhelming conclusion to one of the biggest series South Korea has produced. It's annoying seeing zero…
One of? It's the most famous K-drama in the world right now. But I agree that the ending was too soft. It was like Netflix asked them to make the ending open to the universe developing outside of Korea.

i really enjoyed watching the S3 i believe it deserves higher rate like at least 8.0 cus i think the S3 was much…
On one hand I think the ending was too dramatic, but on the other hand I think they lacked drama, lmao. I mean, it feels like some things were left without a tense conclusion because "nah, this is real life" or sorts.

Anyone upset at the ending has definitely not watched enough kdramas, imo. Kdramas are known for not always having…
Well, this is a case where the sad ending was logical. Unlike shows like Oshi no Ko, where the author just wanted to bait the audience into discussing the ending at any cost and the showrunners had to save the adaptation from that.

the police officer is useless but it represents the real life where police officers are not always useful
At first I was afraid they were corrupt, but now this explains why not.

I Like the movie but the anime is better
I liked the movie, but the anime and manga convey the teenage spirit of the characters much better, IMHO. The main characters in the movie look too mature and realistic, if I may say so. It's not that they were worse, no. All the actors were pretty cute and nice. It's just that the anime and manga did a much better job of conveying the overall "teenage innocent but mature romance" aesthetic.
On Call Me Chihiro Jun 20, 2025
Seeing Chihiro listed as the only main character despite a fairly wide main cast is so symbolic if you think about it.

End of Korean part of story.
I'm just afraid that after the original show ends, they'll start squeezing this IP dry.

End of Korean part of story.
I wouldn't be surprised if these are all remakes or typical "tell your own story using a known IP" attempts.

End of Korean part of story.
Honestly, I haven't seen any news about anything other than the third season of the original show.

Canonical spin-offs/soft reboots etc, or just remakes with the same plot but in a different setting?

If they want*. May I know where you got the information about games in other countries?

Lol what?
Seriously? Two scandals with very minor characters from the early 00s, both of which never led to anything serious, remaining at the level of accusations and scandals in the tabloids? And on this basis you develop a moral panic about "perverts on the show"? Do you really have nothing better to do?
Replying to RobertBobert Jun 6, 2025
Lol what?
What kind of perverts in the cast are you so worried about? Don't tell me you're still so worried about one of the actors accidentally posting a porn parody poster he wanted to show his co-stars, lmao.

I absolutely adore their chemistry, their tension, and eye contact, but the plot is frustrating, likely overcomplicated…
10+ years ago people insisted that an animanga was considered yuri if it had one lesbian side character. Now you just have to have close female characters for people to insist it's fully lesbian action (even if the author herself denies it, as in the case of Broken Mariko). Against this background, the story of how I was sold two men arguing over a woman as "BL" looks like a joke. However, queer baiting has been a completely normal thing for any one gender story for many years now.
