Michelle and Hiroyuki are as amazing and unique as ever, but the script is still too cheesy and over-the-top even for a Hong Kong police action movie of the time. Overall, though, it's still a great action movie about loyalty to loved ones and the dangers of police work. Also, it was funny seeing Wong here as a goofy love interest, knowing what role he would play in the franchise 2 films down the line.
This film deserves more recognition on this site. It's hilariously cheesy. It is just the right mix of action…
This movie is one of those cases when you want to say "this is how anime stories would look in real life". They even have an animal mascot and a Naruto therapy moment.

Yes, that's why it's so important to always have a healthy dose of skepticism. Because even if your ideals are generally correct and you believe in them, you can always make a mistake or overdo it for them.

Reminds me of Eastern Europe, where I live. Here you can meet women who threaten women who want to become mothers to have abortions or men who think that any friendly attitude towards women is supposedly humiliating for men.

Not necessarily Stalinism. Any totalitarian moral dogmatism, where people think that the end justifies the means and the objective or subjective truth of their ideals allows them to oppress other people or use any means to achieve it.
And I think it's quite dangerous because nowadays a lot of openly aggressive and toxic things are justified by formal good intentions. Like that bullying of a petite woman I mentioned because her cosplay was supposedly "minor-coded".
people are being brainwashed into sexualizing every relationship. twisted
Well, in this case, the author herself has said outright that she's not against shipping as a "possible development." But what bothers me is that many people don't care about her desire to explore how meaningful female friendship can be in a toxic environment.

All this should not yet turn into a morality police actively fueled by moral panic and dogmatism. Or do you think that this is not a problem until it concerns you personally? Don't worry, in a society with such aggressive and suspicious moralists, everyone is always one step away from making a "mistake".
I always find it funny when people who actively criticize sexism, homophobia, racism and other forms of oppression still actively try to model and defend the forms of society that created it. Or do you think that it is not moral dogmatism and a hostile society that is bad, but only the reason for which it oppresses people?
And yes, we have already experienced moments when adults did not ignore moral issues and also actively monitored their implementation and resolution. But now it is unlikely that any young people will decide to live in the Third Reich, McCarthyite USA or Stalinist USSR.

This is becoming a very pronounced moral panic. But this time not from the retrograde traditionalists, but from the formally progressive and young audience. It reminds me of how a couple of years ago one popular influencer wrote on Twitter "let's just agree that death wishes are very toxic and problematic" and a bunch of teenagers and young people inundated them with comments in the style of "but what if the person deserves it?!"
One can argue at length about modern ethics or morality, but the fact that young people so easily become moral guardians who allow collective bullying and aggression against others cannot but be frightening.

If we leave aside things like rationalization, when people come up with "rational justifications" for their negative emotions to justify them and get rid of cognitive dissonance or objective moral barriers, I think a lot depends on the fact that people have become too dogmatic these days. And when people are dogmatic, they very easily become intolerant, because anyone who disagrees with an opinion quickly turns into an obviously wrong, deluded person towards whom any aggression is supposedly allowed. After all, in their eyes, they are defending "the obvious only possible POVs".
For example, a couple of years ago, people attacked a petite female cosplayer in her 20s, claiming that her youthful appearance made any cosplay she did "P-bait" (you get the idea) and that any partner she had was potentially a sexual predator with an attraction to minors. When she and her fans reasonably responded on Twitter that they were demonizing any petite, youthful-looking women, some even literally responded with something like "yes, you're just minor-coded." Now just compare this with the extreme conservative dogmatism of the Victorian era, when it was considered very vulgar to put a book by a woman on the same shelf as a book by a man, for example.

I just still remember being accused here of "solidarity with sexual predators" or sorts when I wrote that liking pornography doesn't make people dangerous perverts, especially if their taste in porn or even love in general is a people speculation.
Honestly, every time I read an article about some media scandal here, especially one related to morality, the comments are always occupied by moral guards in the worst sense. This always surprises me, considering that the target audience for this site is clearly under 30.
I don't usually actively participate in these types of discussions, but felt like something needed to be said.…
It's just pointless. We live in an era of new Victorian morality, or rather reverse Victorian morality. Where older people have more liberal views and a tolerant outlook on the world, while the young behave like aggressive moral guardians, ready to judge, insult or even wish death on anyone who does not conform to their very strict moral framework.
I have a feeling that some people really have a hard time believing that women can build strong and emotionally powerful bonds with each other without any additional conditions. Or even build any bonds with someone without attraction and crushes.
It was never romantic in the first place. The author was even asked about it directly and she said that she wanted to focus on the theme of friendship first and foremost, without exploring the possibility of attraction developing between the female characters.
Lol, this film will be released only two months later.
I don't quite understand why you are explaining this to me, if I have already written twice above that these were bots, and not my original interlocutor.

Judging by the posting of monotonous retard comments, half of which consist of the word "fack", clearly someone else is dumb here. Well, since you have already moved on to open insults and death wishes, I think this dialogue has lost any meaning.
Lol, this film will be released only two months later.
I don't know if they deleted the comment or not, but I wasn't responding to you, but to the bot that started insulting me after a dialogue with you. You wrote that you would not continue the dialogue, so I stopped continuing it before that bot appeared.
