In other dramas the ML Xiao Zhan is usually the prettiest person in the show but he looked terrible throughout the series. The styling of this period didn't suit him. His hair was more bouffant than the other characters, his face looked flat and too wide (poor make-up, lighting and camera angles), and his costumes didn't do him any favours. All of this distracted from the story-telling which was over complicated even with the few interesting twists.

Although the FL tried hard to be engaging and winning, their romance was very unconvincing. Xiao Zhan and Zhang Jing Yi had zero chemistry as friends, let along, as lovers. The actors and story might've fared better if the lead characters had remained as friends.

I won't be rewatching.
