Ahh, so that's the case, I thought it would be weird if they were characters' names but it wasn't clear...the subtitles really should have translated the words then. Thank you for your answer! <3

I have a question: on the marriage tree in the final scene there are charms with pig and tiger figurines and the subtitles say there are written names "Jixiang" and "Ruyi". Are these supposed to be the leads' names in this mortal tribulation or did I misunderstand?

To add to what @Katseki said: the FL is also worried because if she gets together with Lu Changkong and later Chu Kong realizes that she had her memories during this life #2, it might be seen as her taking advantage of him. Mind you, she is still scared of the real Chu Kong at this point (and reasonably so, he literally threatened to destroy her home).

Moonlight is actually great, but has a slower start and the romance is a slow burn (on the other hand, one the leads get together, their relationship is very healthy, with no big misunderstandings). The Romance of Tiger and Rose is a classic by now :)

I know that the costuming of this show is getting praises all the time but I loved how XY's look in the final (reunion) scene was reminiscent of her past looks: hairstyle and red elements on her dress reminding me of her CH look, crabapple(?) flowers in her hair and on her dress, light pastel rainbow colors like her in fairy look - but almost no blue, which is CK's signature color, because she lost him and is waiting for him.
And then CK appears, in blue as usual, and he is back in her life :).

Like everyone, I would be happier if the dialogue was longer and perhaps a little cheeky/flirty.
But I take what I can get here :).

Wait, but he did lose his memories in life #2? But as Li told Chu Kong, immortals are still themselves essentially in the mortal realm, the core character and desires stay the same. XM has unhealthy obsession with the FL and it manifests in the worst way in life #2...
XM is annoying but not a villain. He is at his worst in life #2. He also inserts himself into life #3 and he is a little in life #5 and towards the end. But aside from life #2, he always backs off and never forces himself on the FL. He also never again harms the ML. He can be obssesive, bitter and annoying but fortunately he respects the FL's choice and her relationship with the ML. He redeems himself towards the end.

Thank u, I am a bit worried mostly because I know the plot starts when the FL is young and at school and I am not a big fan of school dramas....but I know I just need to get through it and then it's gonna get better.

I think I need a modern cdrama for a change. I want to start "Hidden Love" but I am a bit worried because there is lots of hype around it and I don't know if it's really that great... "Hi Venus" is another drama high on my list... I'll be grateful for tips too!

Ok, finally commenting on this, several hours after finishing the drama....
I am sorry that they reduced quite a complex plot with interesting worldbuilding to a very basic, straightforward, predictible finale...those last 4 episodes really weren't the greatest.

That being said: I am happy and GRATEFUL that we got the explicit, undeniable HEA (same as in lbfad).

(Ok, I wished we got the book ending, specifically the moment of reunion where he comes to her after getting all pieces of his soul, he is dirty and bloody and a total mess and she hugs him and kisses him...oh, I am a sucker for moments like this!)

But I'll take what they gave. The ending has a potential to be another great mortal adventure, with the otp going together through tough situations...
And you know what: Jin twins and Zihui can be part of their quest too again! And Zihui might get his memories/become immortal! And then they die for some noble cause and CK and CH ascend to Heavens again... that actually would be amazing and it's a shame they didn't do a fast but sweet and intense mortal story in last two eps....

This show's forte are unfinished weddings with no wedding nights.
I still believe and hope for a happy ending for both couples....they deserve some steamy nights finally ;)

No, I've seen some interviews with her and it's her own voice. In the variety show she and DYX also talked about how they dubbed themselves after the filming was wrapped.

I am so sorry for going this off-topic here, but I can never pass an opportunity to properly recommend Maiden Holmes to other viewers :D.

- it has 4 beautiful young leads who team up and solve cases. The FL is a genius crosdressing female detective who is very serious, cold, honorable and wants to avenge her family, not your typical bubbly lead. The ML (Changheng from LBFaD) is a Prince pretending to be a merchant who wants to uncover conspiracy of his evil uncle. SML is a martial artist himbo who wants to be a folk hero. And the SFL is a tomboy who specializes at poisons.
- the leads are actually smart and are usually a step ahead of their enemies
- both couples have good chemistry and many cute moments + real kisses
- friendship and bromance between all
- no obsessive evil girls/men who interfere in the leads' relationship
- misunderstandings are quickly solved (and there are not many to begin with)
- satisfying ending + last episode is essentially just fanservice

It's light, it's fluffy and it's fun. Enjoy <3

I hope that all is not lost and they'll revive the charm in the last two episodes. It's not like this is the only drama that has an issue with final episodes (even LBFaD had a similar problem, but it was plotted better at that point).
(if you want to see a gang of smart people outwitting the bad guy, watch Maiden Holmes if you haven't already; that was climax done, mostly, right XD)

In a way, he is like Rong Hao from LBFaD. Rong Hao had the exactly same issue as a character - his whole life purpose revolved around a woman who was never even his. No real friends, no hobbies, no life aside from his obsession.

They could have filled it with the main gang teaming up and scheming against HX. Instead they are played for fools. I am ok with letting the viewer think that all is lost and pulling the last minute "good guys planned all this" on us.
(Maiden Holmes would be a good example of this)
But I just don't think they are doing this now....

They could have sent XM on a quest to restore the mirror....
They could have Jin Luo, Jin Lian and Zihui bonding again while doing intelligence work....
They could have let CH to show her diplomatic skills and preparing the soil for getting the six clans on her side....
They could have send CK on solo quest that would be more complicated than *checks notes* flying through CGI space for 30 minutes....

(sorry for the little rant! I still have hopes for the last two episodes, but this "building up to climax" is pretty much butchered at this point)

Personally, I don't feel we need more episodes. For the past four, they are dragging it, giving us long shots of the characters doing nothing and feeding us flashbacks.
It's building towards the climax and they should have either plotted it better (more things/steps to do, more planning and scheming against the common enemy) OR they should have just brought up the big fight by now.

His only trait is his protectiveness of Cang Hai. That's the problem, he is too simple, too two-dimensional. After this ends, he needs to either die or get a hobby.

They are now falling into a trap of having two smart leads with plenty of chemistry being overshadowed by side characters and by having them repeat empty phrases instead of, you know, making plans and being awesome.

These past episodes the FL is kinda stuck between her attitude as CH and her XY persona. And the ML pretending not to know her (twice) and then setting up the barrier around her...eek, I am not a fan of noble idiocy, although to be fair, it's very limited in this series.

So, tomorrow the ML will be tested in the Void and the six clans will learn the truth about 30k years ago.
I believe that the preview for 38 is the very beginning of this episode.
