sometimes it sounds better on paper but then when it's expressed through film it takes a different effect. 🤷🏽‍♀️ it's a really good concept though. Worth watching.

it's less of a complaint and more of a critique. I would still recommend this to people. It was a good drama but I'm noticing a trend with dramas these days where they have strong concepts that fizzle out with less than strong endings.

This was okay. Got boring in the middle with soo many cases being solved. The ending is a cliff hanger. Not one of my favorites from this ML.

not gonna lie the FML's stubborness when she got her memory back was beginning to feel a bit too much but overall it's a decent drama.

I didn't say they should say it out loud they obviously can't. I'm saying for something as big a deal as her identity, him finding out should have been more impactful. her being taught things such as drawing skills, writing skills etc. just means she actually came from a prominent family didn't have to be the Shen family. but if she added her reaction at the grave site, him burning the evidence would have been more impactful. his reaction was just a little more calmer for someone who's family's choices got an entire family killed only to find out the person he was supposed to marry was alive this entire time. they show his guilt towards this family but don't express the emotional closure well. for example, when he was hurt and she found out what he did will the previous emperor and he watched her burn the evidence even though they didn't speak of it you could come to the conclusion that he feared her knowing and then was relieved when she decided not to say a word. they did this really well in one scene. but when it came to her identity I felt it was lackluster considering it's the foundation of the entire story

my opinion is based on experience in the film industry. and yes when you create a strong story foundation such as this and then don't address the character's development as he changes his belief system to align more with his wife's but instead just skip time, it's what's referred to as "lazy writing". Not that the writers themselves are lazy. it isn't realistic for someone to not struggle to change his world view when they themselves installed the emperor or was on board with them to just one day quit with no issue. They should have expanded on this when they showed his walking out of the palace grounds, could have been a voice over conversation or flash backs. and entirely new episode was not needed nor did I say that in my previous post.

This drama has a good story but when you get to around EP 35 the script writing gets incredibly lazy. Doing so many time skips so you don't have to fill in the gaps is just irresponsible in a drama this meaningful. This thay built up in the beginning were glazed over or skipped, example: They should have shown his struggle and coming to terms with what the FML was telling him about serving the emperor but they just show his outrage of the play and then him walking out of the palace, they didn't even show him discussing it with the emperor, just skipped it entirely. They didn't clearly or cleanly confirm he knew who she was until the end. His realization should have been more impactful, but all they did was point out that someone of her status wouldn't have the skills she had, they were taught in a prominent family. They could have used their visit to the grave site in the flash backs because her reaction makes sense in context. They should have kept the time skip in the beginning, the one when they are older and the one where she is old and show time moving through visuals and seasons and children getting older, but to just skip so many times disconnects there story too much.

this was a good tragic story. A lot of people are saying they dropped it early because it was boring. I'd have to disagree, they were probably looking for more 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ because of the first episode and realized it isn't that type of drama and got bored. This drama wasn't perfect, I didn't really care for the side characters and the FML's friends interfere way too much because of their own opinions and not because they can actually tell her feelings. May those types of friends never find me. When she got back her taste they didn't make it a big enough deal although him trying to fix it was evident and his disappointment was clear when he failed every time. They just glazed over him finding out she had it back. This definitely doesn't deserve all the low ratings. solid 7.8/10 if I could give it that, so I rounded up.

they could have explained the outcome of the ending better instead of poofing it into existence randomly. Also it should have been called - how to be shameless - 😂

then they shouldn't have killed them off like that. my point is they didn't pick a satisfactory ending. it's like they wanted to end it with them dying but decided last minute to have them still alive somewhere even though the entire set up was done for them to die. end of story. like I said, they should have picked either they're dead OR they are alive and well and go with it. not the wish wasy maybe ending they gave.

I feel like they should have committed to that and not make it seem like they had kids that were alive and all that "dream" nonsense at the end

the romance is cute but highly over rated. it's way to slow and there isn't enough plot. first half she's dealing with trama second half they're together. That's not enough for a 28 40min episodes. The FML acting in the beginning is sooo stiff up until she confesses, then they finally give her some personality. It was way too much, I get it she's traumatized and nervous and broken but it was over the top unnecessary. And again the ML is like a kicked wounded dog lol. I tried twice, first time I put it on hold then tried again until the end.

This drama is really good and enticing from the first episode. The mystery and intrigue and action are really well written however the romance and regular scenes where they're just fooling around or in-between major events felt too dragged out. This drama didn't need to be 40 episodes long and I think if they cut out alot of the drag it wouldn't have been so long and they wouldn't have had to rush the action scenes near and in the ending. The romance was a slow burn but very cute, not in any way feeling overly slow in their build up but the scenes felt dragged out. They give the FMC time to understand emotions and build some depth outside of assinations. I don't recall how the ML just decided to fall in love with her though, I might have missed it but it seemed abrupt. Like she's in danger again and now all of a sudden he's agreeing with her child request after saying how she's just wanting one out of a promise and doesn't understand what it takes to have children etc. I like that they didn't make the FML boy crazy to the point where she was no longer a badass and they didn't make the ML a wimp for her either, they addressed the gener power struggle early on in their relationship. Also the ending is confusing like they couldn't decide to commit to a tragic ending or happy one. I think that was a bit lazy on their part after such an amazing drama.

I'm on EP 34 and I can't with this anymore. it had such a good premise up until she became a general, after that when she entered the temple or whatever it got soo boring

I think they forgot his hair was wavy near the end 😂 if you're looking for steamy romantic scenes (which seems to be the only reason why some badly written dramas get highly rated in here) then you won't get that. but if you're looking for something that shows loyalty and emotional bonds beyond physical attraction, then you'll like this. the FML age limits what physical intimacy can be done but it doesn't take away from the bond that is built between the ML and FML. the war story in this is way better than more complete feeling than pursuit of jade where that military story fell off the plot. The songs and story was well done. acting was cute and humorous and serious and sad when it needed to be, very well rounded without one genre taking over the other. My favorite character of Neo will always be Ji Bozai though 😂😂 his attitude as that character being ruthless was all in his expressions. all in all this didn't disappoint

yeah like how does something like never ending summer have 8.5 and this 6.7 ? this had a better written script/story and execution 🫣

why is the rating so low. this isn't as bad as it seems and the rating system on here is deceiving.
the store is gripping from the opening and you want to know what's going to happen next. I do think the first half was more gripping but by the time you get to the second part of the story you're already invested. not to say its bad, they just have multiple bad guys and it could have been wrapped up with one in 20 somethih episodes instead of 33. I'm not sure why they make the ML into a kicked dog in every drama he's supposed to be "wicked" when it comes to women. the FML character needs to get her feelings hurt and chace him for once. Her character is overboard with the pride. Other than that this is pretty good, again the low rating is not accurate and seems biased

the high rating for this is misguided. the story fell short of the opening build up. The FML and ML had good chemistry the actors just had a bad script the pace is very slow and boring even though it's meant to be suspenseful and dramatic.Side characters are pointless to the plot. The romance is adorable but the betrayal seems like a pointless plot. her decite should have revolved around the truth behind her dad's situation which the ML later uncovers etc. It's lacking emotional dept that the story seemed to want to have
