The eldest sister would have been much better off marrying DYX’s friend. The guy might be a boring bookworm but much less drama with him and he got a decent position. After all the hurt she went through, even if DYX had some noble reason, not sure he is forgivable.

They spent quite a bit of time on ZM. Too much IMO - he was good and righteous but a tad boring. Would have been more interesting to have more demon ZM and his struggle to overcome his years of torture and resentment. Regarding the forced marriage - TM said it was not love. He knew the ceremony was something 2 humans did before spending the rest of their lives together. He wanted that aspect of it, that companionship. It’s true this show isn’t just about the main couple’s romance. They spent time on 2ML’s quest to understand love and his bumbling but usually well meaning and selfless actions along the way. Learning his story and the sacrifices at the end - it’s especially poignant that he couldn’t define love but he embodied it.

I finished the series when express became available. I can understand 2ML syndrome, but comments blaming the FL and writer for the FL not being completely cold to the 2ML? That was surprising.
Some people have odd definitions of what cheating is. Guess the FL better not have any guy friends or she would be branded as unfaithful. 😒 FL and 2ML were created together at the same time and spent many years together- like twin siblings with a deep family bond. Just because she is in love with the ML, she is supposed to stop having any care for 2ML? That is so unrealistic, even for xinxia where magic is normal.

Yes totally agree. This show really delivered. You can tell they put a lot of care and effort into the story and casting. All the actors were great! And I have enjoyed reading everyone’s comments and thoughts. I’m going to really miss this drama.

Some people hate TM because he is the bad guy, but he is so fascinating to me. He is not a two dimensional character driven by blind obsession. He is the opposite. His decisions are too logical because he doesn’t have human emotions. He has observed love in others, but he has not experienced it himself to truly understand it (I am rooting for Feng Yao to show him).
He wanted to marry FL not because he loves her, but because they are supposed to be together and marriage is a ceremony that signifies 2 people being together. It’s a fine touch that the setting was a funeral, because the marriage is not a celebration but a prison sentence for the two to continue their duty of overseeing the world.
I can go on and on about TM, but it should be a given no one should condone his actions. It’s the trying to understand his thought process that is so compelling.

I think he’s got a certain swagger that makes him more appealing than some other conventionally handsome actors. I find him quite attractive - that’s my personal opinion.
