I also got into fan fiction for the first time in my life after watching this, because I was also losing my shit. 🤣 There are some great stories on AO3 with interpretations of what happens after the drama. I got to read them getting together, WWX and JC reconnecting, WWX regrowing his core, etc, etc. Also, you could try watching Word of Honor if you haven't yet. Not as good as TU for me personally, but scratches a very similar itch.

The first episode is intentionally confusing for everyone, because it starts right in the middle of the story. I watched the show without reading the novel first, and I understood everything eventually and loved it. Just watch the first couple episodes without thinking too much, pause if you want to read the subtitles more carefully, but don't worry at all if you're confused. It will go back in time to the beginning of the story after a couple episodes, and then you will slowly learn everything and understand what was happening at the beginning. It's sooo good.
