Other than that, it felt like they toned down many small things like this because of the timeline. If it was set in current timeline it might be within the budget to go all out with all the luxury and such but re creating the luxury of a decade back might exceed the budget and audience might not relate to it as well so, they probably decided it was not worth the effort and money.

Love o2o is a decade old drama and when i watched it years ago such feel good drama was a rare find among other c dramas filled with tropes. I also find myself revisiting it less and less nowadays but that can not be the reason to deny the recognition it deserves. As I mentioned I would have loved this drama a lot more if it had released a decade back(Or if i hadn't watched other popular romance dramas of recent few years).
As for YAMG, I really liked the whole vibe of it, imo it wa a rare drama where where everything was perfect(cast, acting, cinematography, music, costumes, story and Dialogues) and all of these seamlessly came together as a whole, that's why i said it was a drama where director took the story to the next level.
And yeah this is a good drama as well and most of the time what turns a good drama into a great for us is our own preferences, so yeah, all is good.
Just finished and I am feeling a little sad may be? It was good but fell short compared to Love o2o and YAMG, especially in terms of repeat value(for me). I know I am putting it against two of all time great c dramas out there but coming from Gu man that was where my expectations were. This is where it fell short of a great romance drama for me 1. Story This story inherently demanded SML's periodic appearances throughout the drama which kinda distracted me from the romance between main leads, Him being someone FL once liked and had not completely moved on did not help it either. His appearance diluted the intensity of their romance and it only got better once she made that clean break in ep 30 but the drama was almost over by that point. 2. Time I have a feeling this is how I might feel about Love o2o if it had released in 2025, by that logic it might have become a standout drama like Love o2o had they released it in 2012-13. production took a hit due to timeline of the story, Decade back aesthetics in a modern drama really did not help it. One example being the her study tour abroad, they didn't even bother to shoot it seriously because of the difficulty of it. 3.Director I believe c drama industry definitely has directors capable of making a great drama out of this story despite the two drawbacks mentioned above but this director failed big time. Let me put it this way, YAMG was where a director elevated a story to another level, this is where a director made sure to make no mistakes and drag the story down. A Director is always the ultimate factor that decide the whole vibe of a drama, This drama needed different vibes at different parts like YAMG (nay be to a lesser extent) but I felt it ultimately had a singular vibe similar to Love me, Love my voice. The vibe i loved (and expected) was something similar to eps 31&32(i am referring specially to the dynamic between the leads)
To those who might misunderstand, what i explained are the points that made it unable to become one of my all time favorite dramas not the negative points of this drama in my view.
He really needs to work more on this aspect when choosing his scripts.
