That was what I thought too while I was watching, that it was meant as a punishment for the Zheng.
They let Prince Ying down, to the point that he has to go there in person, so obviously he condemn them to extintion.
I don't see any other reason behind it, whtaever their official version to Mr. Zheng.
I don't think they (PY and LK) give a fig to whatever CSJ might say, they see themselves as omnipotent, and others as mere ants, and now they're both there in person.

Well, she is a tragic character, forever blinded by either her want for her father's approval or revenge. Never learning from her mistakes. In the end she lost the only good thing in her life so far.
I think she's already been punished, unless she perseveres with her evil plans.
In the end she comes off as the more devious one between her and ZZH.

I was on itsariaselenecruz's team of "no redemption for her" until yesterday, but I have to admit that their scenes today were heartbreaking🥺

Well from his eyes it seems he is Yu Chi, not a surprise really, I think we all knew it was him, since he was so conveniently MIA while they were all slaughtered at his place...
I also noticed at that time how LK was keen on breaking YZJ spirit on top of everything else. Waiting until the last minute to kill his love in front of his eyes, after slaughtering his found family.
A true coup de grace.
That clearly hinted at LK's alias being close to YZJ.

I hope he dies horribly for everything he's done to YZJ and the gang, and also for what he's done today. There's no limit to his cruelty.

The fact that they're going to spend 2 episodes on a kidnapping plot doesn't bode well for YZJ survival...we'll see.

On the other hand after today's tragedy, will they really go for yet more tragedy in the end?
I don't know anymore, I want to be hopeful, but I don't dare to.😭

I hope that too, I'm just utterly pessimistic at this point.
But how I wish to be proved wrong.

You know how ZJR tells YZJ that until he's alive he still has a chance with DW so he shouldn't give up on her? (not knowing that that's exactly why he's giving up, because he doesn't have much lifespan left), and how YZJ replies that ZJR is still alive and yet he has no chance with DW.
It was like they're telling us that YZJ he's the one who really doesn't have a chance because he will soon be dead, while ZJR he's the one who will get her in the long run since he will have all his life to win her over.
At least that is how I interpreted the scene.

I will still maintain a teeny tiny hope until the last moment, but unless something happened in today's episodes (I will only be able to watch them in a few hours) I don't see how he could survive.
What will get me real angry if it's she will be in the dark about his situation until he dies.

I agree with you on that point, it's just that after yesterday's episode (I haven't yet watched today's ones) I don't think he will survive. And in that case I hope they don't put her together with ZJR.

I'm sorry, it is just my speculation in any case, based on their dialogue.

Love all the scenes between YZJ and ZJR, but today's one in my opinion heavily hinted to an ending where YZJ dies, and ZJR gets the girl.
I am preparing myself for the worst, I hope that at least YZJ will obtain justice for his family before his demise.😭
And that Duan Wu will never be anybody's concubine.
If he dies I would rather her just being a successful bussiness woman, and ZJR staying just a good friend to her.

When they all died he seemed very suspicious, and the prime suspect to me too.
But now there's also Kang Ming.
And I give for granted that the man in ep 35 is LK.

When I wrote that I hadn't yet watched today's episode, now I'm even more pessimistic. XD

None of them is perfect, and it's a real pity because they both had great potential, that said I enojyed/am enjoying both very much.
But this one resonates with me more.
I never got bored with either, but I do prefer slow paced stories.
In general I think that many cdramas have too many episodes, because they don't have much to say. But for these two I would have preferred a longer run.
It's not possible so I just have to accept it.

Mr. Queen is one of my all time favourite, there's a bit of everything in it, just in the right amount to create an awesome blend.
I would also suggest The Red Sleeve, and Under the Queen's Umbrella.

The fact that he's not spitting blood every other second anymore spells disaster in my book.

But he did that as his ultima ratio, he was in a panic, not calm and collected.
However after ep 18 i feel like they have been solving things in a too simplistic way, and many times I also feel like they have cut scenes.
Obviously they had to get rid of him now, because his fall will lead to wrap up also Prince Ying storyline, and there's not much time left.
They could have done it in a better way for sure.
I think we had a similar conversation on the Rise of Ning too, but probably this show needed more episodes to be fully developed in a satisfactory way.
But I'm still enjoying it very much.

Was he ever shown as being intelligent? 😂
I see him as just a super greedy man, always wanting more, never thinking about possible consequences if something shiny is in his field of vision.

This is a story about female empowerment and sisterhood.
If you don't like these themes, this is most probably not your cup of tea.
