I watched Season 1 four years ago, but didn't pick up Season 2 until last week (July 2025). The casting was very good. Acting performances were good, but some characters were overacting. Yuan Hao, Wang Ze Xuan and Yu Kai Ning made the hour pass by quickly. The only irrational behavior was when General Hua killed himself.

The acting by Qin's two sidekicks is OTP. Also the Prince's sidekick!

Yes! I think I might notice details that I missed the first time around. I just started Romance of Hua Rong Season 2, which I completely bypassed. After I finish it, I might rewatch Coroner's Diary.

I was also confused with some of the older men and the princes. It was a large castlist too.

The premise has been used before in Eastern and Western dramas and movies. The second twin would become an encumbrance in the line of royal succession. The Royal parent always discards one twin. I guess Grand Empress did not want her husband Emperor to kill one of the twins.

Liu Xue Yi's role was so subtle, it made the viewers more intrigued with his character.

Since season 1 was such a hit back in 2022, the production company could have started preplanning season 2 immediately, so they would be ready to execute season 2 production within two years. I know the preproduction process takes time; set design, costume design, story and script creation, budget and hiring the talent and crew.

I have to rewatch Blood of Youth, to look at his action skills.

They didn't do that awkward time jumpt that writers like to do in some dramas. Even though some time has elapsed, they just dropped in the scenes seamlessly.

Shady Shifu (LOL) was annoying me as well. I have only seen that actor play evil parts. He fulfilled his destiny in IA. His wives are annoying in subsequent episodes.
