Mo Jing Li and Ye Ying are pitiful and boring. I would prefer to watch Mo Xiu Yao and Ye Li. In episode 12, we find out that Mo Jing Li was the son of the former crown prince, which means that Mo Jing Li could have become Emperor one day. The court would have been yawning.

I started skipping the daily end-credits previews, especially if I have to wait 24 hours for the next episode. I prefer to wait for the element of surprise.

Some of the flashbacks are repetitive, that you wonder if the editor and direct think the viewers are not paying attention. The scene where Mo's brother asks Ye Li to take care of his little brother was shown three times already. The editing looks choppy with the back and forth of the same flashbacks. The mountain story is choppy, that some viewers think the grandfather's people are dead or alive.

I was also thinking that Empress Dowager was responsible for the breakup. She and Ye Li's mother's were friends. She was probably jealous of the mother. She then forced the bethrohal between Ye Li and MoXiu Yao, knowing he was disgraced and a cripple.

Is Mo Jing Li in love with Ye Li? Ye Ying looks jealous of Ye Li, even though she ended up marrying Mo Jing Li.

The monkey business really changed my perception of Ye Li. I thought she was tough as nails until the monkeys showed up.

Who is Prince Mo Jing Li's wife? She keeps appearing, looking depressed. Is Ye Ying, the half-sister of Ye Li?

I bingewatched the first seven episodes in a day. Bai Lu looks very pretty, and the makeup is good. Ye Li seemed to be the mastermind of a secret network, which confused me, but after reading the comments below about the Academy, I see it is a big revenge plot. One of the best scenes was when the newly promoted chubby minister went up in flames. At the time I was confused why he was Ye Li's target. So, did Ye Li plot to marry into the Mo family, to get into the palace?

I am not sure about the Empress Dowager. Is she the mother of the Emperor? They act formal toward each other. She doesn't seem to want to give up her "Regent" status and turn over the throne to the Emperor.

Cheng Lei looks very good. Acting in a wheelchair must have been tiring, since he is stationary. I hope he learns to walk soon.
