From what I’ve seen on Chinese platforms... ppl have been saying the movie struggled with distribution from the start ... not many evening slots..and IMAX or prime screenings were hard to find. Some said they couldn’t get it in their local cinemas, and if they did, only during early hours, didn't wanna go to see it. In some smaller cities it was even withdrawn, which led ppl behind the movie to file some official complaint. Haven’t spent too much time on this, these were just comments I'm seeing while watching some bts and movie clips posted on their platforms. It just smth to be noted.
There were also talks about infighting btw companies, probably over distribution and scheduling. My guess is that...since it’s CNY...distributors may not have pushed it much because it’s not very family friendly compared to other films. Still... despite this, it’s gaining traction and shouldn’t be underestimated.

It’s not a rumor, it’s confirmed, the drama Hun Pan Jiu Chuan. The translation I’m getting is sthing like Soul Judgment of the Nine Rivers, a costume drama, he’s the lead, filming starts March 15.
No other cast listed or confirmed yet...I’ve only seen rumors about He Shiyu, Zhang Shi’an, and Sun Zeyuan, but take that with a bucket of salt😃so far Rui is the only one confirmed.

One thing is for sure..this director knows his job..👌it would be great if rui could work with him..

One tip from many commentators..read a bit abt the main historical figures..it helps a lot cause atp there will be many characters at once..

This one is heavy nd praised … very bloody and gory...inc cannibalism. It pulled me in to read about this crazy historical period.... I might start watching it....but for now 48 episodes is a bit too much for me☹️ have already many on hold 🥴

Didn’t like much the Netflix version but the curiosity over the story led me to finish it..both version seem to have a problem with pacing.Netflix going over things quickly leaving you with what? I haven’t read the book....the Chinese one is too slow atp... acc to some comm.. ..but overall ppl like it..def an interesting story. From the same author you also have Wandering earth movie on Netflix too..

Even peaches couldn’t figure it out at the time..🙂. Who knows..maybe through JJY..she was in his Novoland..or Chen Ruo Xuan from BN and VoS...he was in it too...
Btw reminded me that I’ve had 3 Body on my watchlist for a long time. I’ve watched the Netflix version...but many say the Chinese one is better...

Atp.. it seems like Youku and Netflix are hiding everything in the shadows....not just the drama, but also the release date.... hiding their YT channel...like it’s a total conspiracy...😁

Netflix?👀 Were there talks about them buying the rights? Even if it happens...my region would probably say no...as always...so good old vpn to the rescue🙂

Didn’t know this about Cheng Lei. ..got to know him in mjty. The short drama I watched was Butterflied Lover...and it's really good. Got it recommended cause its style reminds of GJM. The director got more famous later with Blossom.
Though BL didn’t have a big budget... it looks like it did. This director is known for working with "little" money but somehow making it feel like nothing is missing. So even if Rui’s drama doesn't get a big budget with a skillful director it still can look great..

The plot and his character sound like it's not a cliché revenge drama, but has something new to offer... what you wrote about it plus Yara... his character nd some part of the story reminds me of one novel I really like... and if they pull this off it's gonna be really good..

Ratings on MDL are not to be trusted anyway....it just caught my eye...but mdl may differ from what ppl think in China... That's why I was curious what people say about her there. This sounds good.

I got confused seeing it on Dramawiki.... but it could be a mistake to put his name there before it got confirmed...

I checked the director...her dramas don't score high on MDL...and if I got it right, she's mostly done short dramas...this one is like some 24 ep...though she got a few awards...but mdl is intl...would like to know what people in China say about her..
His character sounds interesting..and the drama sounds kind of like a mixture of historical and fantasy...
