You have described the 3 sisters perfectly. Money hungry stupid eldest sis, impulsive stubborn middle sis and selfish immature little sis. All 3 are a pain to watch. I was also hoping the story gets better and the characters get evolved and get their revenge but it just goes on and on and I'm watching it at 1.5x speed to just get it over with! They shouldn't have named it Little Women, it really has no connection to the warm hearted and innocent sisters of the English novel.
I also watched the whole thing in 2x speed and that's the only easy way I could get through it! I had the exact same thoughts as to the queen's sphere of influence, her negligence about the past, her failure to bring up her sons responsibly, failure to communicate the truth at so many instances to her sons and husband.. having such a failed marriage that allowed the king had several concubines..allowing her evil MIL to wreak havoc repeatedly without any power as the queen.. Despite it all the drama had an authentic set up with the buildings, costumes, mannerisms and I loved the attention to detail on these, I truly enjoyed the atmosphere rather than the story and messy political intrigue.
I just finished the series today and feel the same way about it as you. Good characterization and yet it never felt compelling to watch. Could have dropped it at any time with no regrets!
Exactly, the romance was lukewarm and weird, certainly expected more fireworks when a close friend falls in love. They compromised sweetness and chemistry in the name of reality and the result was lackluster.
