Just to point out here that probably over 80% of the adult population in Korea (and most countries in the world) are drug users. They all consume one of the most harmful drugs to society in terms of domestic abuse, child abuse, random violence, public nuisance, liver disease and general health. If introduced to the world today alcohol would certainly be categorised as a Class A drug and put on the banned list. Then there is also tobacco, coffee, tea etc which are stimulants. The arbitrary nature of legal and not legal, prescribed and unprescribed is pretty irrelevant to the argument imo. So let's just stay free from the moral judgements here.
Personally, it saddens me greatly that someone who was a functioning, contributing member of society, doing his job well and value adding to a great many people's lives is now facing the possibility of a prison term. I send him my best wishes and hope that if he himself wants help, he is able to find it.
Thanks so much for that Normie, it's really good to find people that share your viewpoint. I do a fair number of reviews if you are interested and I try to take an overview and give examples, rather than comment on the details. I noted that you have some good reviews on your profile, I look forward to reading more of them!
Thanks for the article which was very interesting and has helped me think further about things. I've only just started watching Jdramas and have already picked up on the dynamics which you discussed. For instance, I personally found the sexual interactions in "Perfect Crime" were bordering on rape, whereas other Jdramas have a subtlety to them which really attracts me. For instance the stories in "One Night Morning" were beautifully crafted gems. Searching through MDL, I've found a number of Jdramas that interest me, but there is nowhere listed to watch them! I subscribe to Netflix and Viki, but they don't hold many Japanese dramas in their libraries. Where can these dramas be accessed?
Well you wrong with your statement because Kang Eun Kyung is not written Forecasting. You can see in this : https://namu.wiki/w/%EA%B8%B0%EC%83%81%EC%B2%AD%20%EC%82%AC%EB%9E%8C%EB%93%A4:%20%EC%82%AC%EB%82%B4%EC%97%B0%EC%95%A0%20%EC%9E%94%ED%98%B9%EC%82%AC%20%ED%8E%B8Kang…
Thanks for that Watchnega. I don't read hangul so I was just going on the info on MDL. It sorta makes sense, as Forecasting was very different in style.
Absolutely agree Kate. I really think he is a much better actor than the dramas he appears in. He has a great range and I would love to see him in a drama written by someone like Park Hae Young who did My Mister and My Liberation Notes, or Kwon Do Eun who did Search WWW & 25/21. These are two writers that I think really know how to create depth in their characters and he is more than capable of going to those depths in his portrayals. I've thought this since I first saw him in Healer and watched him crack open after the death of his Master. Wasted talent!
The cast is what drew me, but the writer is what concerns me. She wrote Dr Romantic but she also wrote Forecasting Love and Weather which was really bad. She's not noted for action dramas, and this one sounds like that. Let's see whether she can come up with the goods.
