This was a lovely, unique drama, the story was fresh and realistic. I don’t really think I’d define it as BL bc it really is just a slice of life story between 2 people regardless of gender - they could’ve swapped Dawon or Siwon with any other gender and it would still fit perfectly. Also the fact that they actually talked about divorce and CENTRED IT AROUND HOW IT AFFECTS THE CHILD? Just- wow. The mother’s actions were so in line with how parents really act - how they unknowingly hurt their children while thinking they’re doing what’s best for them, how they don’t apologise because of pride when they find out. It was so different and raw and just great overall. Plus with only 12 minutes episodes, they pulled it off well with the pacing and character development. BUT I do think I was clickbaited by the fact they said this was based off the manhwa . The drama would have been a lovely story just by itself but the fact they’d said it was based off WCDP meant they were forced to squeeze all of these unnecessary scenes in. They had Yoonjung’s harassment, that absolute horror of a girl 😤, the public scandal and all these things going on and it just made the plot a bit messy, they could’ve just done only Siwon’s development and it would’ve flowed better. Also because of everything going on they really downgraded Dawon into a privileged rich pretty boy, and only hinted at his insecurities. It definitely annoyed me so much when watching this because his storyline in the manhwa was SO GOOD and they literally got rid of almost all of it. I hope if they do a second season they go more into Dawon’s problems. That being said, it is definitely worth a watch! Haha 😆
I was trying to prolong finishing the drama for as long as possible but I gave up and watched the last episode tonight - let me just say, normally I’m all for respecting other people’s opinions on shows (as long as they respect yours) but if you thought this drama was bad, then you are wrong 😤 lmao. It was so cute and realistic and the changes they’d made from the novel made the scenes fresh and more interesting (to someone who’s already read the manhwa and some of the novel). Also the acting was miles better than in like 90% of bl series, and in the most respectful way possible , the kisses/ close contact scenes were *chef’s kiss* mwah👌🤌. Also that last scene, please tell me I’m not the only one who thought they were going to break the fourth wall and call me out for watching when they looked up? I deadass jumped lol
In the novel it says he has prosopagnosia (face blindness) and moderate OCD. It’s not pointed out in the series…
Idk if it was lost in translation but it definitely said he was neurodivergent and had problems remembering people’s faces but it wasn’t very specific. RIP Jaeyoung lmao
Quite a few people didn’t like how they changed the storyline and the characters’ actions a bit, but I think that: 1) it is doing amazingly on such a small time scale- they would have to change a lot with only 8 episodes. Plus this is one of only a few web series that is done well and doesn’t seem too rushed, and the actors were well-chosen and act well 👏👏👏. 2) the manhwa and the animated series were cartoons, so the outlandish and high-key horrible things Jaeyoung did are (imo) too funny and unrealistic for me to get mad at him, because it’s not something you would expect anyone to do irl (the art and pop ups made it seem crazy and funky). But with the webseries, real people are used so it can’t be made that wild, so I think the way that the director and producer edited the show is realistic, making Jaeyoung seem irritating but loveable, whereas if they’d followed the manhwa he would have come across as a complete ass. I’m really looking forward to the next episodes, hopefully they’ll carry on being as amazing as the previous! (Side note - no one is talking about how GORGEOUS Yuna is. Amazing looks AND personality? Literally stunning 🥲😩❤️🔥)
