Up until episode 11 I thought the romance was so awkward and not developed well. I even accepted that I don’t care if they end up with each other. That all changed after episode 11. The acting of KGE was so good and the scenes were so epic. At the same time hilariously unrealistic with the swords and horses
Will I be ok just watching season 1? I’m worried the season won’t give me any closure and instead have me waiting like mad for the next season... whenever that is
They never explained what happened with Eun Seob and his uncle, or did I miss that part? When did he decide if…
I totally understand your feelings and had often felt the same way watching the drama. I think the good/bad thing about the drama is actually the lack of dialogue sometimes because it doesn’t explicitly explains things but it also used it to set a feeling through their actions and expressions. I think for me it lead to questions but also kept it open for me to make my own judgements and conclusions even if they could be wrong.
Here are some of my thoughts on your questions:
Hae won and her father: I think this is the weakest point of the drama and major plot hole. As a child I could accept how she might not know about the abuse but at her age when he dies she is old enough to know what is going on. The level and seriousness of the physical abuse could not be hidden.
Hae won and her mother: I think it is only explained a little in the last episode when her mom wrote her the letter. Her mom always loved her but had a hard time expressing that love. To her family life was hell and she admitted taking it out wrongly on her daughter. The only reason I could think of is that she ignored hae won after going to jail is the stigma of being the daughter or a murderer. She wanted to cut ties so Hae won would not have to deal with that. If you look at the younger days of the mom she was always a cold person. It was always in her character. I felt ok how it ended with the mom because hae won finally heard words from her mom as explanation. It seemed at the end hae won is open to having a better relationship with her mom.
Eun soeb and uncle: yea no verbal closure but because he ultimately went back to his family to me it was clear he would not live with his uncle. But he was still really conflicted because he was pulled by his uncles words. Very complicated emotions because he felt what his uncle said about him and his dad was true. Some part of him agreed with his uncle but when it came down to it he knew he is different from them and loved and wanted to be with his adopted family even given the choice.
The aunt: I also wondered where she is leaving to but I think it was more important that she came to terms with the whole situation. To her leaving this place and never coming back made her become ok with her decision and able to move on best with her life. I’m just happy she didn’t turn herself in. And finally doing something with her life.
Lots of people were unhappy about Hae wons actions of leaving Eun soeb. Me too. But I also see her as a person who needed to work out some emotions. She felt badly betrayed by her entire family and needed some space. I hated how careless about eun soebs feelings . This is a guy who has abandonment issues and she left him just like that. Was not ok with it. But I still wanted a happy ending with them together. Although the end is a bit open ended if she stays permanent or not. I choose to believe she realizes he is the person that never betrayed or left her and also supported, comforted and loves her. So decides he is the one for her and wants to be with him forever.
for anyone who's watched it is there any side couples romance/relationships besides the main FL/ML?
In my opinion there are 2. Best friends of both leads have a comical romance but it’s not developed that much. Then there is the second ML and FL. It develops but not in a satisfactory way for me at least. If you want to know more I can go in detail. Also do you count Shen ye and aryana as a separate couple than the male and female leads? Because their love story is prominent.
I like the sweet happy ending, and the romantic lovey-dovey scenes from Aranya’s Dream. It is a feel good story…
I loved the lovey dovey scenes after they went back to heaven but I agree the most memorable and the scenes I loved most were in aranya dreams. Ultimate favorite scene is that ending though. Been imagining the father son reunion from the book and it did not disappoint.l, like many others, I wish they had included the boat scene it was adorable.
I read the book many times and I felt sad about Shen ye and aranya but not that sad because of how it was written.…
I only understood 80% without subs but so many mixed signals I feel from Shen ye . Waiting for it to be subbed to fully understand where it wrong. Because at one point they were happy together.
Fengjiu may be cute and a little childish at times, but she's a good cook, a good fighter, a good friend, good…
I read the book many times and I felt sad about Shen ye and aranya but not that sad because of how it was written. The changes they made in the drama were so good. I was shocked about how emotional affected I was. When fenjiu told him how Aranya felt heartbroken because of how he treated her I felt he needed to hear that. I know he had reasons for doing it but she did not know. I’m so glad they made this scene between fengjiu and Shen ye
