40 episodes, really?
I would to start by saying this is not a bad drama, but it's very too long for what its has to tell. There a lot of problems for the plot and way too much episodes, the story have too much repetitive things. Acting is good, OST is very nice, i like the CGI.I can say it's worth it to watch if you like the actors but overall its a very common drama.

Absolute Masterpierce
So i just finished this drama and the feelings are so intense, this is probably the best historical/politics drama i'have seen so far. It's a masterpiece.The Rebel Princess is the first and the only one drama with the famous movies actress Zhang Ziyi and with Zhou Yi Wei (the ML) they doing a fantastic duo. Every actors in this drama are so good but this mature couple is so freaking good, the chemistry is so high!
The story is very well written, 68 épisodes and not a single one i didnt liked. The mature romance especially is the perfect example of how you have to write it.
The OST, the musics my friends...It's probably the best OST that I’ve ever listened for a drama, so magic , full of feelings.
The costumes, the sets for the filming, it's so perfect.
It’s one of the most expensive dramas ever produced and i can understand why, you dont see everyday this level of production.
I'm pretty sure i will rewatch it one day, and now i want to see all the movie of Zhang Ziyi!

A short drama and a big surprise!
Honestly, Butterflied Lover is the perfect example of how a short drama can also be good when you have a good Director behind it. It's the man behind Pursuit of Jade and Blossom.At first i started this drama because i wanted something fast to watch before going to sleep, so i started the EP1 and something was not normal, usually these short dramas have almost always the same pathing , but after 3-4 episodes i had the feeling to watch a big budget 40 episodes drama, that was very strange. So i'have continu to watch and damn it's was very good.
The story is not a big plot, the FL have something like a curse and we dont know if she live in a dream or if what we see is the reality, and the ML found her (at first she is like savage, no talking and things like that), and then start the romance. The support characters are well written too.
Of course the drama is suffering from his format, you can't develop the story in depth, but the chemistry between actors is beautiful, it's more a love story than something else.
I'm a bit sad they doesnt choiced to do a 30/35 episodes, each 45 minutes, instead of a short one, that could be a easy top MDL rating i think.

Average but there He Lan Dou
Honestly there not much to say about this short drama, it's an average story, who doesnt have time to take place or being good because of the 14 minutes per episode, everything is obvious, the whole cast is not really good, it's a hardcore binge drama and you will forget about it in a couple of day/weeks.That being said, He Lan Dou looks beautiful is this short drama and i like the OST.

All this toxicity, it's not okay
So usually when i watch a short drama i dont very judge them like the others one, i know its about entertainment and its not follow the traditional drama rules, but this one everything is about toxicity.This drama is not okay, the first episodes you can think it's just a typical red flag ML and i can understand why people have hope for the next episodes because there a little something with the production who even for a short drama is good but then...My god, the level of toxicity, it's not possible nowdays, there nothing entertaining about that.
I'm not gonna spoil in case you want to see this shit by yourself but be careful, it's a very cringe drama.
I rate it 5/10 because of the first episodes but it's more a 3.5, stay away from it.

When i'have start this drama i'have read some reviews and i'have see a lot of them put a very low rating for the story and since i finished it, i dont understand why honestly.So yeah, the story is full of clichés (but it's like that in 99% of the dramas) and support character lack real deph, even during the first 20 episodes, though, you get the impression that they are going to play an important role in the plot. But the whole story make sense, i had a good time watching this princess/spy doing her things, the story gets a bit chaotic in the last 8 episodes.
Maybe people wanted a bit more romance, because the alchemy between Liu Xue Yi and Meng Zi Yi is very strong, both are doing as usual a good job, Meng Zi Yi it's always a pleasure to see her. But at half of the story it's become more action/politics things than romance, all they build in 20+ episodes is behind and its more focused with the global evil queen plot.
That being said, it's doesnt deserve a 1/2/3 rating like i saw on the reviews. It's not a top tier story, it's full of clichés, but it's still enjoyable. It's the typical drama you watch when you have done with the episodes of week from your main drama to watch.
I think many people doesnt understand how to rate honestly, they dont know the difference between "i dont like" and "it's bad".
So to me it's a 7.5/10, it's could be better but it's could very be worst too, and Meng Zi Yi <3.

Disappointed Ending, good drama
With this drama i'm disappointed but in same time i enjoyed it. Before starting this drama, you have to know it's a drama with a big cliffhanger at the end, like it's just a season wich a didnt know when i started it!I liked the first 20 episodes, pretty refreshing with a lot a humor, a ML who is not a cold guy and it's the FL who rule. The story and side characters are well written, everything is smooth. The second part have a lot more politics things and it's quite repetitive, not my favorite part.
I'have not much to say about this drama, if there a season i will watch it with pleasure, it's not a top tier drama but you can binge it and enjoy it very easy.
I'm rating it 7.5/10 because of the ending but overall its more a 8/10, a good surprise.

I'm not crying...
Damn, i dont even where to start with this review, the emotions this drama give me is very rare!Against The Current is the perfect example of how a high storytelling quality can be with the Chinese dramas, and behind this work , you have a level of production you rarely see nowdays. And with all this hardwork you add a perfect casting, with a crazy high acting level, magnificent scenery and of course a beautiful OST.
On this drama you dont have a idol random drama but a mature one, Tan Songyun is absolutly stunning, her level of acting is ridiculous high. The story is "grey" it's take time to understand everything, there no bad/good people but just some people who doing what they can to survive. The support characters are not just here for the show, they have real depth and genuine importance to the story.
This drama is a true tribute to the role of women in society. They go through so many hardships, and once again, the writing is absolutely flawless.
47 episodes and not a single one is bad, it's a big performance. Maybe i liked less the 5 last episodes but it's more my feeling than a reel problem, Chinese dramas always add a little ending plot when you thing it's already over and most of the time it's not really necessary.
It's a easy 9/10, what a beautiful adventure.

An average story for a crazy casting
Wow, i just finished Generation to Generation and what an very strange adventure.The feeling with this drama is so strange, because honestly the writing and the story is very average and even boring sometimes BUT and it's a big but : The casting, especially the FL is the reason why people put good ratings for this drama.
The story is very repetitive things, when you understand the dramatic scenes like " you betrayed me so i'm leaving" but 2 episodes after they are together once again, you know almost the whole thing.
So why people like that much Generation to Generation? Well like i said Bao Shang En and Zhou Yi Ran have a crazy chemistry together, and the Bao Shang En job is a very high level drama acting. Also she is a very beauty, she have a unique face and with the perfect makeup, it's mesmerizing. I think many people is watching it for just for her.
But it's not just her, it's the whole casting, while the writing is not very nice, the acting of all theses people is fantastic. I can't count the number of scenes i was like " but it's make nonsens...Oh okay who care? Just enjoy watching theses people".
This drama is about people, the last 10 minutes of the last episode can easly prove it and i almost cried because you can feel it's not just a drama ending, they very enjoyed doing it. It's about how a new generation of people have to deal with the errors of the past generations.
Also the production is very good, it's a candy for the eyes.
That why i'm rating it 8/10, because even if the story is not great, you can't put a bad rating for theses actors and actress. This drama have something different and many of the actors/actress are young and have a big potential for the future.

Very good casting, mid story
So, i just finished this drama and i had a very good time watching it til the EP10, their chemistry between actors is so good but then i dont know really why, i lost interest for the story. i'havent found the "south part" very interresting, it's was too basic, predictable.I can't say it's a bad drama, of course not, its a good one, but to me it's not the masterpiece people try to sell me. I can easly understand why it's a must to watch for many people, so i give it a 8/10 but again it's only my experience with this drama.

So good!
After I Am Nobody, I wanted to see what actor Peng Yu Chang had done before and after, so I came across a drama about video games. The main character makes a deal with a big businessman: he has to create a company with the goal of doing everything he can to lose money. But instead, everything his team does turns into a huge success. So I decided to give this drama a try!And damn, it’s really good! The ML is great, of course, but the whole cast has such crazy chemistry. It’s so much fun, and after a couple of episodes, you really get the feeling that you’re part of the team, working alongside them on their future video games. It’s hilarious watching the ML get more and more frustrated because his company keeps growing faster and faster!
Such an entertaining drama!

A good female soldier.
Honestly when i saw the 7.4/10 on MDL for this drama i trought it's was a bad one BUT since i watched Legend of The Female General i'have a hard time to found some drama with a female soldier, so i tried this one.And honestly it's a good surprise, the story of the FL take a couple of episodes to start but the whole army part is very well written, you dont have a barbie girl, with a perfect makeup everytime. You have a true female soldier, with scars, dust, powerfull mindset, a little bit of romance of course but she fight with her army brothers in the way its sound "realistic".
The global plot is a bit a mess, especially the last couple of episodes with very too much things happens. The ending is very good.
So if you are like me, tired of the lambda FL and you search a warrior one, give it a try, this drama is not bad.

A nice chemistry
Honestly this is a good suprise, for a 24 ep drama.It's a 45 minutes/episode so not that cheap even if there a lot of repetitive things, its more a drama you binge and yo uwatch for the ML and FL chemistry who is pretty nice. Ma Meng Wei need to be more often an FL and not just a support one!

Boring feast
Honestly, I don't mind the drama that goes on in imperial harems, but this is unbelievably boring. Usually, this kind of drama is broken up by moments of action, but here it's just nonstop talking practically the whole time.Throughout the whole drama, I was basically just waiting to see the two main leads in their scenes. Everything else is unnecessarily long, repetitive, and often just plain boring. It lacks pacing and any real sense of stakes. The actors are doing a good job; the problem really lies in the writing. Even the whole feast/food aspect quickly takes a back seat.
A good political drama, even if it involves a harem, still needs to have a certain pace. You can't just have 40 episodes of people talking like this, with so few scenes between the two main leads in the end.
