it ticked me off as I was disappointed by lack of proper analysis. But other than that as long as it is the joy of sharing...how can I be critical of it, if I myself find immense joy in finding people who share my joy of analysing and discussing or who share the likes for the same drama. I think to be trully open minded we have to conquer precisely such limitations and go above them, against ourselves, against what may tick us off and find the good points against ourselves. There lies the victory of open-mindedness over narrow closing up in narrow boxes we find simply adequate for ourselves. Gosh, I feel like I'm preaching, but it;s not my intention, I just really thoght some more about my own reaction to this whole issue and I realise my reaction and what I said may have been wrong and pretentious and a contradiction of very accepting open-mindedness I strive for..Just a thought.

the true critical mind to trully open minded criticism because taking such a stance may actually maqke the critical mind narrow-minded, paradoxically. I hope this makes sense, Farah, I hate when I have this thought w hich is inside me but I can;t seem to express is as clearly as I would want to. I guess all I'm saying is, to be less abstract, the BM article spreads the love of BM. It only states that it;s a matter of tastes. and proceds to list reasons- which admittedly aren't very convincing - which have the effect of spreading love for the drama among people who already love it. The true question is perhaps- should the article have had a different statement of objective, then because it is misleading. If it was clear that it wants to share the joy of loving BM among those who already olove it- I would have no problem iwth it, but the statement of objectives was different, therefore

I've been thinking about it some more farah. I think I may have misinterpreted the article. I don;t think anyone really wants to bash anything, the statement is clear- it;s a matter of tastes. What bothers me is that I am bothered in the first place by which drama takes first place- the most important thing is that I like it and that I can find the joy of finding others who like it as much as I do. By the same token what I find to be not worth the attention is worth the attention to others...who thus find their joy of sharing the love for the same thing too? Isn't it more pretentious to bash that love of sharing? I think in the end it's thoose who criticise the love of something that have to take a step back and rexamine their reactions too. I'm not sure if you follow my train of thoight but it just struck me that perhaps taking the critical angle in some things closes off the true

I do, yes, because I want to make sure I know what;s happening in the period. You know, wit some dramas, like the ones set in archaic times it is more difficult because a lot if it are legends. So in QSD some figures are real but Mishil is a fictious figure. I check how things happened, but I like hiw history is given colour in those dramas and how it encouraes me to check things- it;s half of the fun ^^ I just eed to be careful what I check- because sometimes the dramas are faithful to history so reading history is spoiling the drama. But then again knowing history and seeing how the drama interprets it is very rewarding too. You ask some very interesting questions I have to say an talking to you is a pleasure. Is there anything in particular that you seek in dramas?

Yes, that's my plan but I don't think I will be able to stay away for too long loool. With the lack of avatar..I thought I'd keep a low profile while I am away lol. But I don't think that will work either. I just won't come as often for now I want to get the blog into shape more and MDL keeps distracting me I'm afraid lol. but then I sometimes get annoyed at my own addiction lol.

manipulation done by the storyteller-the director. It all goes back to education and parenting, and I think the film tried to show it, but in the end it manipoulated the viewer so much that I didn;t know what to trust. In the en, I only knew two thing for sure: the little girl shouldn;t have died like this. Werther did well by taking some leave from being a teacher. For the rest I couldn;t make a clear judgment at all. I'll be watching With love now, a romance drama with Yukata. Somehow I find myself in a phase for japanese romances at the moment. After that I will watch White Christmas as you have picqued my curiosity. What about you? I'll be back in a week or so so apologies if I won't immediately reply to your message.

Actually, farah, I am taking a little break from MDL- for a week or two, during which time I will focus on polishing my blog a little, I"ll be coming less frequently here as sometimes I really do get tired of all this fangirlism. If not for my friends here, I'd probably stop coming altogether but i really have become pleasantly surprised how many like-minded people to hold great and constructive conversations with I found. Soemtimes I forget that to all the rest who isn't critically minded I sometimes have to readjust lest not to hurt their feelings- this ned for balancing gets to me sometimes and makes me want to take a break, like now. The movie played with my mind so much it hurt. I really thought that the devil looked like a fairy tale bnext to Confessions, but it;s the sort iof mawang-like climate too since it bases on manipulation and most importantly

Yeona, I just wanted to let you know: I am leaving the site for a while. I am tired of all the rankings, fangirlism and in general sick competitiveness that this site has started to foreground. I need to take a break. I will be blogging more now, and will transfer all of my reviews there, but will come by to update the lists. I am letting you know as I don;t want you to think that it;s because of you in any way. It's not. I'm just..tired of MDL and of how things work here.

I came here via your "With Love" review- I am just aboiut tow atch it, as I absolutely love Yukata as a romantic lead. He just has this something attractive about him. Wow, you sure have sen a lot of dramas. :)

..but frankly I don't care. Who cares what drama takes the first spot? Minding it is shallow and silly. It;s best to just mind outr pwn preferences and spread the love for the dramas we like. Just like other are trying to hype up Bridal Mask. :)

well i like when a story is well told and mytaste in dramas will likely end up very different from yours, since I am a reflective person I like when a story has more depth. So I like serious dramas, and slow paced movies.I am quite fussy and demanding when it comes to my dramas lol. That's why I prefer japanese dramas over kroeans more often and thise which deal with some heavier issues and which are thought provoking. I do like lighter fare too for pure entertainment but I also like something which gets closer to a "work of art" and dramas can be a genuine work of art. As for unhappy endings..well sometimes they are called for. When i want happy ending, I watch a romcom usually that tends to statiate my need for happy ending. When it;s a (melo)drama, I don;t want the story to be shallowed. But I liekd, say, the ending to princess man as it was not sugary happy.

I personalliy liekd the witch chick who did all the nasty things- she was very convciong and the most convincing out of all the non-Asian actors in that drama. What I found most lovely is that both Eun Shi Kyung and the princess have such njuce vocals, they should have done a singing duet..

You're nearing 200 dramas, congratulations ^_^ What is your preference in dramas? Do you favour any particular type of stories?
