I am intrigued. A suspense-revenge drama that is fast paced and gets right into it may picque my interest. I want to see whether it will be to my taste, try something that stays mostly within its genre and it would be adifferent genre for me
But I feel it may be something that sets the standard for my more thriller-suspense based dramas. I need something that is a prime example of its genre first itwill give me grounds for exploring and comparing. I'll watch it when I am done with Thank you, which I am absolutely loving - for it is a beautiful drama and moreover it allows me to come back to normal drama world from my K2H madness, it is also a drama with feeling and real and I appreciate, for the first time, Go Hyo Jin, she really does a nce job here.. After this I will go for the devil.

Good morning Bokami :) I have a question for you. Between The Devil and Equator Man, which one would you say is better? I am intrigued by the tarot thing in the devil but because i disliked the equator man, I thought I would ask you this question. have a lovely day!

But strangely Taiwanese dramas are not to my taste, most of the time, there are a few I liked...but somehow...for me it also has to do with language melody, I am afraid. I am very used to korean and japanese, but not mandarin When I tried Thai Lakorn I shuddered...they are really poor and more like South american telenovelas, while the japanese and koreans have found a far more interesting formula.

Ah my apologies for making an assumotion I take your point about production values, aesthetics are no less important. K2H is to me a very good exmaple of a drama that combines appealing visuals with a good story and I do like Koreas for it. In turn, japanese dramas tend to have more depth sometimes. And yes they can be weird sometimes, they deal wih a verity of, sometimes completely unthought of ting Moreover there are things that I am not toelrant of - for instance hints of romantic love between siblings, this to me is very difficult to accept, and yet the japanese are so open about it. They have a very intriguing contemporary culture, full of taku obsessions, the japanese but it;s extremely fascinating for a european like me. Though I dislike watchin on air dramas I think I will be watching this one as it airs, especially since I am quite an avid lover of LBS.

it is pretty exciting plus there is this added element of being in the past and problems of adjusting to it. I felt that the japanese version had insights and asked philsosophical questions about nature of time as well, that's why i liked it. There were two seasons of the japanese JIN too, i wonder if that's going to be the case here too, or whether the drama will simply be longer. Another thing I love about japanese dramas: they are mostly just about 11 episodes long. I really appreciate that, and also it;s nice to see they CAN tell a story within just 11 episodes. it's one of the most attractive things.

I think Japanese dramas are more difficult to get into for Westerners, they can have some very unique ideas sometimes, so I think I can understand. You're not the first person I meet here who finds japanese dramas unappealing. I like japanese dramas, they really tend to countebalance Korean ones heh. They are very different from korean. I starterd to but haven't finished yet, because i wasn't in the mood for it, and right now i feel like taking a break in general because i can't connect with any drama i open. It is a good drama, very unique for a time travel and i really love the idea, reverse for a change someone from the future goes into the past. Though, maybe you can try it after the korean version and personally i love lee bum soo so I"m going to follow that drama first of all for him as I know the story more or less,

Hello, Rita. How are you? Enjoying the penalty for losing the bet so far? :) I am cheering you on, by the way :) Thank you again for your last private message, I em anjoying its contents now :) Beautiful.
Why am I not surprised that you dropped hotaru? It is a silly fluffy drama, more sitcom-y than than a drama all in all. Too much cuteness in there. I suppose the topic is also a bit strange and may leave you with a bad taste, especially if you can't get used to its style. I liked it though. But I can't for some reason get into queen inhyun's man for now and I find the constant changing between past and present confusing. I don;t think it;s my kind of drama. The actress reminds me a little of Rene zwelleger in Bridget Jones for some reason.

I used to do it using pictorial methd: i associated the kanji with the picture it represented and I so learned the meanings and what it looks like, readings were more challenging.

oh sorry i used a mental shortcut! I was saying that Equator man and K2H are both types of dramas that you either take or leave and not everyone will be happy with either of them. JIN is the original for Dr JIN, maybe you could try checking it out, unless you doin;t want spoilers, because it;s like to be somewhat similar. So you don't like japanese dramas?

:D both em and k2h are this type of drama, i would say. Have you watched japanese JIN by the way? it eill give some grounds for comparative discussions. Sadly remakes sometimes do not live up to originals. Same here U always like a constructive ecxhange of opionin, it really makes drama experience much richer.

Star, xnopex I love what we're having here, a constructive exhange of opinions, were each of us doesn;t say just I hate it but give reasons for it too, love this :-) I am just trying to be careful not to post spoilers. And see0 it really depends on what we are looking for in dramas and how we rate things. The story was poor because it was poor of hackneyed situations at times. When I watch a lot of dramas of one genre I definitely notice that in terms of story, whils paying less attention to technical details. But xnpex also makes a good point that for the writer this drama maybe something new because she;s trying to leave the romcom genre and in terms of production values I would give EM some pluses. So much of this depends on perspective and what we want in a drama. I confess I am still really trying to define what is a "Bladey kind of drama"

Hi.Thank you for friend request, it is nice to meet you. love your profile description. Short and to the point though judging from your currently watching list dramas are keeping you somewhat busy. You also joined quite recently, hope you;re having fun. love a person who can offer constructive critique of what is being said and invite door to longer debate. Had a look, we share a couple of dramas and I definitely agree with your Salaryman rating, I thought that it was a very refreshing drama, half wacky half serious. To continue a bit the discussion from EM- even the ratings we give I suspect we give for different reasons, because different elements appeal to us. That's the beauty of sharing, to me. And MDL facilitates it, even within that one aspect of our common interest, there is so much variance and nuance.

Agree. All the three dramas - K2H, Rooftop and EM were pittied against each other for a reason, all of them are likely to appeal to different audiences and out of the three, K2H is the drama I liked in terms f writing, set and costume design and acting, though it was also predictable at times. So it really depends what you like. But I think K2H and Equator man were two that did take care of small details well and gave everything poper closures. I am not sure about Rooftop but judging by its audience, it was not badly made. Also, my perspective may change in time, because at different points in life we tend to look at things in a different way, see it in new light. Rght now, I don't like its general direction and storytelling, not the way I liked K2H, which told a bildungsroman story, but some of the camerawork, music and actors were definitely appealing to me.
